I have two of the Capital One rebuilder cards. A Quicksliver one and a Platinum. Got the QS1 in January and the Platinum in Feb. Both with starting limits of 500 each. I have used the heck out of them and on 4/24 I hit the luv button and got a cli to 1500 on each of them. Needless to say I was super excited. But you all know cli's are like a drug. LOL So now I'm wondering what I can expect with the credit steps increase and when to expect it. If it's six months I should have put about 7500 through each of the cards. Hoping for somewhere around 3-4000 limits then. I have read all the post and know that cap one is a crap shoot sometimes. But most people say they really look at use. I try my best to never carry a balance and pay several times a month to ensure this. But I have had under a 100 a time or two. Anyone with similar experience with them can chime in with what happened to them, I would love to hear it. Thanks for taking the time to read all this. Happy rebuilding all.
My first credit card was the Capital One Journey card with a $500 limit, 6 months or so later it was automatically increased to $1500, about a year later I upgraded the same account to a Quicksilver Card via an offer i recieved in the mail, which kept the same $1,500 credit line. Since then (1-2 years or so) I have rarely used the Quicksilver card as most of my expenses are ran through an Amex PRG and Chase Freedom...BUT, to my suprise they automatically increased my limit again to $3000, a few months ago. I am not sure how they figure out their Automatic CLIs but it was surprising to me seeing as I rarely use the card, but appreciated none the less. I was thinking the reason for the CLI may have been used as an incentive for me to start using the card more often, but I may be wrong.
I had a 200 bump lol... EO then got involved bumped another 1k.. then last CLI 500 then EO involved for another 2k on top of it.... Credit steps and cap1 is a mystery to me. still to this date..
These companies are almost impossible to predict aren't they. My credit has definitely improved. About a 40 point increase in just 4 months. And cap one has recognized that with the original increase. So who am I to complain. Just reading all these success stories gives me hope for more. I have a couple new store cards that I am really wanting clis on but no luck so far like some have had. Lowes, Belk, Kohls, Gotta several bad marks that I am working hard to correct and remove. If not, have about 3 yrs till Im clean. But Im not giving up. Im gonna keep on using all the suggestions on here and eventually I will be back in the over 700 club ( 750 at one point). If only I knew then what I know now. LOL
Opened my Quicksilver card with a CL of $1000. Got a $5000 increase after 6 mos. I'm also an AU on another CapOne card that was opened with a CL of $1000 and after 6 mos there was a $2000 increase. Low balances and on time payments on both.
my cap 1 went from 300 to 651 after 6 months, and it's still at 651
