Cap. One CLI Problem

I have had a capital one account for about a year now and in the beginning I went over the limit and was late cause I did not know what the due date was. I called capital one and told them why this had happen and they work with me to get it down and paid out.

They send me the letter saying that even tough I had messed up on the account that it was not to late to have the account CL raised. They told me just keep up the min monthly payments and do not go over the credit line. (I agreed) The monthly payments for the account is $15 but I send $25 every 2weeks,$50 per month. I had kept that up for several months and they have not held up their part of the bargain to get a CLI. What should I do now?

Good luck with that one! Capital one is a "conservative" lender. I have over 35,000. in Line's of credit, credit cards etc. Capital one is my oldest card, ( About 5 years) and they wont go above $500.00! I have other cards that have a limit of 15000.00. I keep it open for the credit history. Capital one is really lousy!

Know that feeling, 9 years and $90,300 in credit lines and I'm still at $500 with Cap1.  I'm going to call a backdoor number in a few months, when my util is under 10% and make one final shot at a CLI, and then if they refuse, I'm going to ask them if I will ever be eligible for a CLI, if they say no.  The card will only be used on occasion and only to maintain the history, since it is my oldest card.

So it seems I can take pride in my $750 CL :-)

Re: Cap. One CLI Problem

That is very strange.  I just got my CAP 1 MC in March, with a $300 CL.  In July, I received a 300 CLI. My billing cycle closes on the 16th of every month and after it closed Saturday night, I looked at my account online and my CL is now $1,100.00 (08/17/2008).  So, I have received a total of $800.00 within 5 months.

I have a 2 month old credit card with Cap One for the CL of $300. I called them last week asking for a CLI and was approval for an increase of $300. Now I have a credit limit of $600.
