Cap One -CLI?

I've been reading this forum for quite a while and finally got up the nerve to post.  I have 2 Cap1 cards - One got an unsolicited CLI to $1800 a couple of months ago while the other (Cap 1 Platinum) is stuck at $300 and has a annual fee of $19.  Just got approved for a Barclay Visa at $2500.  I'd obviously like a CLI on this one but I'd also like to switch to a different card with no fee.  Is this possible?  What do I ask for?

Welcome to the forum.  So that your questions can be addressed directly, I started a new thread for you, changed the title but did not change your post.

Asking  for a CLI, upgrade and AF waiver are all possible. how long have you had your Cap 1?

Re: Cap One -CLI?

Hi Lexie,

I've had both Cap1 cards for about 1 1/2 years. Thought the online app was declined and called on the phone. When I got both cards in the mail I called to see which was the "right" one and they said both were valid.

Re: Cap One -CLI?

You could do both, since you have hard the card for 1 1/2 years you could ask for a CLI every 6 mos. and on the bright side with Cap1 its a soft pull so it wont affect your credit report or score if the increase is declined. Also call cap1 and ask if they could waive the fee or just get rid of the fee.

Re: Cap One -CLI?

Thanks.  Can anyone offer suggestions on which new Cap1 card (preferably without a fee) I should ask for?  I'd like to know so that I can include that in my email to EO.  Just to reiterate.... I'd also be asking for a CLI at the same time

Re: Cap One -CLI?

asking for a CLI from anyone at Cap1 other than the EO seems to be a waist of time, I got my CLI denial letter today, they listed my EQ fico as 720, I know its not stellar but it surely isn't a reason to decline a CLI for an account that is 32 months old with perfect payment history and a current CL of $750. No lates on any credit related tradeline ever,  AAoA   1 year 10 months (CK, actual is probably a bit higher),  2-3 INQ on EQ, no baddies, UTL is a bit high at 19%, no card over 50%.  High CL on a credit card 11,900,  average CL is close to 5k,  two cards less than a 1k limit, with the 750 CL cap1 card one of them.
