You can "Venture" but you better not venture too far or your card won't be accepted.  Smiley Surprised

Bummer…I hope that actress with the annoying voice is right - that most places really do accept Discover now…

Domestically, sure, no problem.  But overseas, not so much.  Which is what I thought the Venture brand was geared toward. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

It seems unlikely that all of those card products would be automatically moving to the Discover network.  They would lose too many customers/transactions.  However, I could see offering current Discover cardholders a path to product changing to other existing Capital One core cards without simultaneously changing networks.

Yes, we'll have to wait for an announcement to know what's really going on.  It's clear they're going to have these product families available on Discover, but it's not clear they're transitioning everyone over.

But they didn't give a f about losing debit card transactions.  They just moved em on over to Discover.  I think the financial incentives for Capital One to move cards onto Discover may be bigger than losing some customers or transactions in the short term.

That's interesting. I don't have a card on the disco network, maybe savior will be my first, if they switch it.

Discover is pretty good in parts of Asia. It will work in Japan wherever JCB is accepted. It will work anywhere in China wherever Union Pay is accepted.

I believe I saw mentioned somewhere, that Venture X is not listed as one of the products potentially moving to the Discover network. Presumably, for the exact reasons you specify. Also none of the business cards either. Basically just the lower end Venture cards, and the Quicksilver and Savor cards.

Re: Cap One Moving Venture, Savor, QS to Discover Network

I will say that Capital One is known for grandfathering people in and having people keep their network.
I had Quicksilver on the Visa Network all the way up until it closed in 2022, even though Quicksilver was only issued on MC at the time.

It may be different now that CapitalOne owns Discover. But maybe with more interchange fee revenue, they can bump Discover QS to 2% and give more perks to Discover Savor. And maybe they can give people an incentive to migrate rather than a force migration.

One can dream....

Discover acceptance overseas is virtually nonexistent.
