I've had my $5k SL Cap One Platinum MC open for 6 months now and was just allowed to 'upgrade' to a Quicksilver (not QS1). Anyone know if they're auto-shipping those as a WMC or WEMC? I called to ask and they had no idea what I was asking. Go figure..

"Back in the day" often when someone was upgraded to a different rewards type if they had a Platinum with a $5k credit line or higher the new card would come as a WMC (or Signature if Visa).
These days it seems to be very YMMV.
My own Platinum (network level) MasterCard with a credit line of $5900 was changed to a Venture One and did not get upgraded to WMC, and last summer I did a PC to a Savor (back when that was still allowed) and once again it was not upgraded to WMC.
I probably have one of the few Savor Platinum MasterCards grandfathered with no AF.
Your question is answered on their website on the QS page at the bottom where benefits are displayed. There is a small link to click on that explains in detail it is a Mastercard Elite. You can download the PDF or view it online.

The small 'Guide to benefits' link shows all of the various versions available but doesn't specifically call out the Quicksilver from what I see. Also, the question refers to cards PC'd vs new applications.
My QS1 was upgraded to WMC before my PC to Venture One. I thought that it was dependent on how much money you spend on the card?
With Capital One it's best to keep expectations low and assume the account will remain the same tier. Upgrades can/do happen but it seems to be fairly random. I do not think it has to do with spend on the card, but who knows.
I would just assume it will remain the tier it is, and just be happily surprised if it gets upgraded.

Bascally what I was thinking...
I Upgraded from the qs1 to the QS after 18months. It also went to WMC. I've read in several places that if you pc with a credit limit at or above 5k it helps tremendiously. I had no idea till it came in the mail, but then again i wasn't expecting it. So i looked at my pc approval and it was right there in black and white lol. good luck!
