Cap One QS Visa Signature upgrade succesful

After 3 weeks of back and forth calls and wishy washy responses, Capital One finally decided to let me upgrade my QS to a Visa Signature. It was like pulling teeth, but it got done. So for anyone who is interested in this, it can be accomplished, you just have to be persistent. I was calling them every few days to get updates and stuff.

Finally they called today and said it had been upgraded; lo and behold my login now reads "Visa Signature". Note that they were not apparently going to automatically send me a new card reflecting the "change"; I had to request a new card be mailed out (which I did via Image Card because I don't want the default design again).

So for those curious, it can be done. Just be persistent and be prepared to wait a few weeks! I don't know which benefits I will even use after finding out the roadside assistance sucks, but I just did this to keep my mind off of being bored in the garden. I still find the benefits overall to be silly haha.

Hope this helps for those who ask about it (I see a lot of people wanting to go MC --> WMC on Cap One, and this is similar).

I hate you!!!! Lol. I tried this too and I got told "Your card is being upgraded to a chip card; try us after you get the chip card." Gee, thanks. For now I've decided not to pull teeth.

Awesome.

I got tired of the excuses and closed my QS Visa a few weeks ago.

The Venture and the QS WMC are my remaining cards with Capital One.

Don't understand why they gave you that crap -- the two things should not even be related. Just because you are about to be sent out a chip card shouldn't mean they can't upgrade your account on the back end -- and clearly they consider it back end because as I said they weren't even by default going to mail out a new card to me!

Right, and see, that confuses me a little. Don't Visa and Visa Signature have different numbers in the first 6 digits? I thought going from Visa Platinum to Visa Signature meant that your card number had to change. So how would they not issue a new card?

Not sure if it works this way with Capital One.

Well, since it's Capital One, even the EO is sometimes clueless with answering questions. I asked her if a new card would be mailed out, and she was like "ummmm, the notes don't mention a new card being mailed out...do you want me to open a new case for you?"

Not wanting to wait 3 more weeks for this, I said "Is it easier if I just request a replacement card on your website, considering my account reflects Visa Signature at this point?" She said that would work fine, and when I went through the Image Card procedure it does display as a Visa Signature vs. the Platinum kind before.

You're right though, the last four are the same but who knows, the first digits could be different. I suppose I will find out!

Yeah, definitely let us know. Cap One can be nice when they want to be, but even when they are, they invent a way for us to tear our hair out.

Re: Cap One QS Visa Signature upgrade succesful

Was your Quicksilver originally a MC and they changed it to a Visa Signature, or was it a Visa originally and upgraded to VS?

Re: Cap One QS Visa Signature upgrade succesful

Chat rep just said the card number will remain the same when card is upgraded to Visa Signature, and that I can use the existing card until the new one that I ordered comes in the mail (figured that much).

Nevertheless, it's Cap One chat, so, we'll see what the card number is when it arrives haha

Original Visa Platinum. Never a MC.
