Hello, I recently received PC on 2 Cap One Platinum MC I have. One had a CL of $500 and the other had just had a CLI to $2000. When they upgraded it almost seems as though they got the two mixed up
Card #1- Platinum w/ $500 limit. One 30day late. Open 2 yrs.
Upgraded to $500 Quicksilver MC w/ no AF
Card #2- Platinum w/ $2000 limit. Never late. Open 2 yrs.
Upgraded to $2000 Quicksilver One MC w/ AF.
I assumed card #2 with no plates would get the Quicksilver!? I suppose its all in what the computer decides.
Another question I have regards the MC Quicksilver. I have read they are usually Visa cards and can't find a factual reason as to why you receive one vs. the other. So confused! I def want to grow the cards as much as possible!
Bump
Well last week when I called EO for an increase for my Sony account, (which they bumped by only $250). They asked if I had any more questions. I asked if my QS1 annual fee could be permanently waived. The EO said my account was eligible for a PC since I recently received an auto CLI on that account; to either Venture or regular QS, as waiving the AF on the QS1 is not possible. I inquired if I were going to be upgraded to regular QS with no AF VIsa version, as I already have many Visas. He said no, once you have a mastercard it stays a mastercard. So i switched my card over to the QS with no AF and kept my account number the same and kept it as a mastercard.
He stated there are no differences between the Visa and MasterCard with the exception of the QS1 having and AF, and it being for people with average credit. The Visa version is of course for people with excellent credit with no annual fee. The computer automatically differentiates between the two when one applies so the company can catergorize the two. Once the QS1 hits a minimum CL of $3000, it is now eligible to be upgraded to QS or other cards for "Good Credit" within their company.
I hope this answers your questions.
I had an original QuickSilver One MC. I also had a regular Platnium Visa one that I PC'ed over to QuickSilver.. Weird thing is that account was a $3500 dollar account it got converted over to a QC ONE Visa. Didn't think they had the ONE version of the visa, but that is what the card says in my wallet. Confused a bit. Color of card is slightly different then the MC too, more shinly lol
Depending on your relationship with the bank (it is not easy to define relationship, YMMV), you might get upgraded from Platinum to either Q/S One or regular Q/S. I was actually interested in Journey (no-AF) but was offered Q/S (no-AF). I do not like AF cards so was pretty clear about it during the upgrade. My Platinum began with $500 CL but grew to $2k in 6 months. The PC was done after a year. Now the account is 15 months old. The limit is the same, i.e. $2k.
Whether the final card will be master or visa probably depends on whether the previous card was master or visa. While Cap One does not market the One in visa or the regular Q/S in mastercard, both versions are available.
Cashback benefits do not differ between the network. Other privileges, such as rental car protection etc. are particular to the network and may slightly differ. I personally prefer mastercard because my university does not accept visa for any payment.
