Cap One QS1 CLI denial...when to reapply?

I reached the 6 month mark since my last CLI in March, so hit the luv button and got the dreaded 2-3 day message.  Smiley Sad Not really surprised...I have quite a few accounts in the last  6 months.  I don't really need the CLI right now; just thought I would give it a shot because I was eligible.

Anyway my question is...how long do I have to wait until I can ask again?  6 months?  3 months?  Tomorrow...lol?

This is my oldest account by a mile so I do not want to close it even though it's one of my smallest lines of credit ($2K)  I don't want to go the EO route either just because as I said I really do not need the CLI right now and would like to save my EO requests for when it really matters.

Thoughts?

Go back in 6 months if you don't want to use the EO.....also, make UTIL is low

Re: Cap One QS1 CLI denial...when to reapply?

CAP 1 is finicky. I requested a CLI and was denied for not enough use of my current CL. I guess its true, but Id use the card more if they gave me a bigger limit. I have 800+ across the board, so this has to be the only issue.

Re: Cap One QS1 CLI denial...when to reapply?

You could be denied for not using enough of your credit limit too. If your limit is $2k, and you only run say $100 a month thru it, they probably won't increase it. You've got two options...use your card a lot and using at 50% of CL, and ask again in a few months, or call the EO, tell them you want to make this your card of choice to use all the time but the limit it so low compared to your other cards, and need it increased!!

Re: Cap One QS1 CLI denial...when to reapply?

After limited use ($100-$200 a month) I had to use the EO to get a $500 increase to $2000 on card 1 when it hit 12 months old after being denied for not enough usage.

Then last week when card 2 hit 12 months I got a $2000 luv button increase to $2750... Despite the fact I've used it the same or even less than card 1.

Go figure...

What was the reason for denial? If it was not enough usage then use it more and try again whenever you like. I tried the luv button twice within a week. It will let you request again whenever you want but you can only get one actual CLI every 6 months.

If you haven't done so already, you can also jump on the chat from within your account and ask them if they have any offers to upgrade your QS1 to the no-fee QS. You can also do one successfull PC every 6 months.
