Cap One-Quicksilver 1

Why oh Why...everytime I request a credit limit increase from capital one the only thing they want to approve me for is $100?!  Since getting this card and I have other cards, my credit limits have been increased as well as my credit score.  However, Capital One doesn't seem to want to budge!

Any suggestions?!

My suggestion would be to decline the next $100 CLI they offer. Some people have had success declining small Capital One CLI's, then getting a larger one several months down the road.

That's what I did.  I will just wait and try again later.

Re: Cap One-Quicksilver 1

Depending on your score you might want to apply for the capital one venture, I was getting one hundred dollar increases, then I applied for the venture and they gave me 15k, after 6 months they gave me an additional 3k. It's the same concept when you're working for an employer for a long time, you can either be satisfied with quarterly small raises, or change employers at a higher hourly rate, and now you can start fresh with those large sum raises Smiley Tongue I hope this helps, best of luck

Re: Cap One-Quicksilver 1

What's your usage on the card?

I got a QS1 two years ago with a $300 limit, I think I ran about $1000 thru it every month and at the end of the credit steps, they bumped me up to $2300.  Continued the same usage and got bumped up to $6300.  My last CLI took me to $9800.

I PC'd to a "normal", no annual fee QS when I hit $6300.

Re: Cap One-Quicksilver 1

Capital One love useage and large payments.  When I was a part of the credit steps, I used my card for everything.  I  paid in full rinse and repeat.  As others have stated what is your useage and what type of payments are you making?

Thank you for the wealth of knowledge I have learned from these forums. I am logging off as of November 9, 2022. I wish everyone great success.

Re: Cap One-Quicksilver 1

I, too, am testing the constant usage and PIF. Originally received a Cap1 Platinum MC, PC'd it to a QS no AF MC before the first statement.

My card limit is $500 and I usually get to a max of 60% utilization multiple times a week and then PIF. So far, in just over a month, I've ran over $3k through. The second statement generates in another week (or so) at which time my utilization will be around 3% and I'm going to request a CLI via the luv button.

my advice, not that you are asking for it is to not rush things because it makes you look desperate.  make sure you wait more than 6 months, add a week and never cli with a balance.  just my .02 from a guy that did a 300>12,300.  lenders like it clean.  good luck.

Re: Cap One-Quicksilver 1

Thank you guys for all the advice!!  I'm holding tight and NOT taking a $100 increase!  Only in the past couple of weeks,  I've been using my card for everything and paying it off.  i will keep doing that until I get a better increase!
