That’s awesome. What was your starting limit? I’m jealous. Maybe I’ll need to swipe like crazy and pay in full.
Mine started at $500. I tried for a CLI like every two weeks for a long time. lol. When it was low limit like that, I was putting about $2000-2500 a month and just making multiple payments a week. Apparently they got the hint. ![]()

You will still be in the same bucket you were to begin with, you’ll just earn cash back when you use it now. Hopefully they will give you a CLI soon now that they offered you the QS upgrade though.
I disagree that there's always a bucket. I'm now at a $12,000 limit on my Plat-->QS-->Venture. And I opened it in October of 2015. I have used it a ton though. Put a lot of spend on it with multiple payments a month (when it was low limit).
Yeah my card was never actually bucketed that I can tell even though it was a credit steps card. But it’s also had two other Plats merged into it and until November of last year, my wallet was only Capital One. Started off with my Plat in 2014 and I was carrying my “QS” and my PS card until I got approved for Ollo in November then in March I got my Disco and the rest is history. Cap gave me a $2K CLI in March when I asked but it’s been SD since then, haven’t bothered to even ask for another CLI because I know it’s a no now lol.

My card started at $500 on credit steps... I paid it multiple times a month then they gave me a $500 increase for credit steps, I merged two more Plats into it to bring me to $3500 and the rest was auto CLIs, a manual $2000 ask in March, and a $1000 ask before that. Cap really loved how much I used my card.

Hmm. Maybe that’s where I’m going wrong then. I’ve been using it for small purchases once a month and paying in full because there was zero benefit. But now that I’m getting the 1.5% back it gives me incentive to use it. I’ll have to try and see if that makes a difference. Did you ever carry a balance or PIF?
I always paid in full. And asked for CLIs a lot. I only carried a balance for 1 month after the card was at a $9000 CL.

I was almost always PIF. When I bought a new TV last November I had a balance until January of this year.
Cap likes a lot of usage and PIF if you want a CLI.
