@Anonymous wrote:I've read a few things here and there but would like more (and recent) input.I have gotten a lot of new accounts since Nov 2014 but there is one more I would like to have before I garden indefinitely in preparation for apping the Sallie Mae. We are taking a few trips starting at the end of this July and I would love a travel card. I'm interested in the Venture - partially b/c of the big limits, but I've read great things about the reward structure and redemption processes as well. Also, Cap One gave me love w/ Kohl's, so I'm hoping that's a good sign.I just have a few questions and would love some help.1) I have EQ on ice. Will this be an auto-denial? I have a cap one QS & Kohl's card if that makes any difference. I've read some had success w/ frozen EQ - are there any who have been told to unfreeze EQ?@2) My EX is 726 and TU 695. 9 INQ on EX & 7 on TU. Utilization under 4% and that's only if my Amex & Macy's couch purchase show up before the app. Right now EX has my util @ 0% w/ various small balances across the board. I have one CO loan w/ a balance of $93 that is 6 years old reporting reporting on TU.@Lots of new accounts and two aren't reporting - my Amex (1500) and BofA (800) from May of this year. Should I wait until they report seeing as how my NON store card limits are: $2500 CU, $800 cap one (still reporting as $300), $300 discover, $250 barclay, & and AU USAA account @ 12k ? I'm worried the small limits will prohibit a bigger SL for the Venture, if I'm even approved.@Anonymous bigger store limits are $5k amazon, $17k lowe's, $1k Macy's & Kohl's, $2.5k macy's special event, and a plethora of Comenity ranging from 250-650. I also have a LOC @ $1k.I've had no problem meeting spend bonuses and Cap One recently verified that my income is exactly what I reported on QS & Kohl's. ($35k as I am a full time student)What are my chances? I'd like to do it sooner rather than later because we leave for Vegas on the 30th & I'd like to have the card by then. Should I wait for higher limits to report or will the additional new accounts cause more problems than good? If it makes any difference, though, I will wait. Also, Venture or Venture one? Also - no results on Pre Qual but I think I read that this is bc EQ is frozen.Sorry for the novel but I am very grateful for any and all feedback. Thanks so much, y'all and have a good night.
Well first i would say your chances are outstanding. at the time my scores were no where near what you have.
When i got venture. my scores were all mid 660s to 670s
Now as highlighted above. it depends.
I apped venture first with my EQ on ice as well. Instant decline. read others did it and all was fine. but their scores were over 780.
30 days later i unfroze it and apped again. and was instant approved.
Also. i had 16 on Tu 17 on Ex and 14 on Eq as far as inquiries. you will be fine.
another point to help your limit. say you will do a BT even if you don't. others have gotten higher starting limits with this little tidbit. Also did not have a pre qual. they kept offering me the QS1. no thanks. i already have the regular QS.
Good luck.
Also if it helps:
one current secured loan open w/ balance of 63
one PIF signature loan ($1k)
and 2 student loans in good standing (deferment) since 11/2014

You are over thinking it. Cap one is very generous right now. I am pretty sure you will be fine. My utilization when i apped was about 18%. at least 18 new accounts in last 2 years. none of that was a problem. as i said. Instant approved when i unfroze EQ

Hey taxi, thanks so much for your input!! Can I ask - when you applied the first time did you receive HP on TU & EX while EQ was on Ice?
Yes. i got the hp on those two. i suspected the denial was because Eq was on ice.
I then got the letter from them a week later.
They stated. unable to access my credit report.
They specifically mentioned EQ.
So thats when i decided to try again. after 30 days to make sure they would not say too many apps in last 30 days.
Then Boom Approved.
Edit
so the card cost me 2 hps on Tu. 2 on EX and 1 on EQ. but im not complaining. it was my fault thinking i could get it like that with my fico scores being so low. but my report was not that bad. i had 1 negative at the time. a old paid collection. which has since been removed.

@Anonymous, thanks so much. Maybe I will unfreeze just in case - I'd hate to waste 2 HP. Unfortunately, though, my EQ is my worst @ 672 w/ the one small CO loan from 6 years ago reporting as well. I really appreciate you taking the time to respond!

Dont worry of it. My eq was 663. when i re apped. it was fine. they are basically looking at the entire credit picture. not an indiviual score. maybe something on eq that is not on Tu or Ex. this is what they are looking for.
AS long as your scores are all over 660. you will be fine. and will get a great limit.

Thank you! BUT!! I just saw that Venture does not offer 0% interest
What is this mess! I'm really interested in that - should I app for V1 to get this? How bad is the V1 according to reg V?
Also, may I ask what your SL was w/ Venture?

My starting limit was horrible. i made a mistake on the income question. I only got 5k. yikes. hehehe. but you are correct. It does not offer interest free period.
But my brother. got both. and many friends end up getting both cards. The Venture and the Venture one. but to be honest.
The starting limits on the Venture one is no where near what the regular venture does. you can actually get 3k on the venture 1. you might get better. but you can get low limit. even though its a signature card as well.
i really made mistakes. i said i did not want BT. and i did not include all my income. just partial. so i got low limit. but i also have 5k on quicksilver as well. as well as another 2k on a cap one platinum. so im fine with it. total 12k in limits with cap one. so no problem.
