I was told that an old HSBC account couldn't yet be combined. There's a glitch, no timeline on when it will be fixed. I tried right after the ability to combine limits with Cap One.
If you get a fix, please advise the rest of us![]()
OP, just last week I combined my Quicksilver card and my HSBC card. I had the QS card since 2010 w/a $39 annual fee (before converting it to QS last year it was a cap 1 platinum card w/no rewards). I'd had the HSBC since 2007 w/no annual fee. Once the payment on the QS posted, I was able to combine limits and close the QS card. So it is possible just not sure why it works for some and not others.
I'm not able to combine accounts either. I have a QS and a Venture, both are over 6 months, zero balance, nothing pending. The QS was originally opened as a QS1 about a year ago. The Venture was opened in January.
I'm not in a hurry so I'm going to give it a few months and see what happens, but it is frustrating when nobody has any answers.

+1
Also, the last two times I've called Capital One, I've called on a weekday, earlier in the day (around 9-10 AM) and both times I got somebody in the U.S.
I'm not saying the end results would be any better, but you might come closer to getting transferred to somebody that can help you.
Yeah! My short fuse was going crazy!

Op- i have 3 cap1 cards with a 0 balance and they are 10 days into my cycle. Each account is 3-4 years old, excellent payment history. Cant combine either!
Wow, really? Which 3 cards do you have ddemari? I had no issues combining 3 of my old Capital One cards but I did it in two phases since the website crashed upon the first wave of consolidations.
Hello! I just combined my cards, no idea why this time worked, but no complains here ![]()
No chage to cause the approval, guess is just their system LOL
Keep trying! Does not make sense, but today I hit the button and it allowed me to combine ![]()

Accounts also must be in good standing never maxing the card even if it's paid off to $0 blance and never late. Only one card has to have a zero blance and that's the one that you are closing. Six months is stated to be true to wait but never max out the. Card.
That could be true. I went over my limit on this card a long time ago by five dollars. Only card I have ever done that with. I have never made a late payment though.
