Cap One question

I would love to get a Cap One card, but I am not 100% sure my scores are good enough for an unsecured card. My question is, if I apply for an unsecured and get denied, can I get the secured card without having my credit pulled again?

Re: Cap One question

you can try..cap1 will triple pull you for the unsecured anyways i believe, and im not sur if they can use the same pull. i would go with a BOA secured

I agree with shock -

If you are unsure then just go with a secured....

What are your scores if i may ask? Do you currently have anything that is still open/not resolved on your credit report?

My credit journey has completed. I am currently sitting at 800+ across the board.

I started my journey here years ago, and thanks to MyFico, it really is possible.

Re: Cap One question

My scores are 620-640. I have one secured card with WF and a few store cards. Only have 6mo history with those cards. I have 1 co from a few years ago and a lot of inq (recent car shopping)

Re: Cap One question

I got approved for a cap1 secured back in the day with like... a 580 or so.... so you might have a different experience but it would be worth the try I think..... it might only be a 500$ limit but it is better then nothing.... if you dont feel comfortable with getting the inq, then just sit on your WF card a few more months then try.

Re: Cap One question

I wouldn't mind the pull if it resulted in a new card =P. I know I want a Cap One card, but if I am not approved for a unsecured, I dont want another 3 inq to get a secured.

Re: Cap One question

well, go for the pull i say, and if you dont get one, dont try for a cap1 secured, sit on your wf secured for 3-6mo and then try again.

Re: Cap One question

Have you checked to see if you're prequalified for their cards on their website?  If it says you are, I would apply!

Re: Cap One question

wells fargo credit cards have no rewards..but since you have a secured with them..it best to go that route and try for unsecured because you have an established relationship with them. it may be a soft pull too. I heard someone on here saying he had a WF card because it was a SP. Then work your way up from there..

Re: Cap One question

It says I am prequalified for the secured, lol. Which is an improvement because I was denied for the secured card 6 months ago and have never gotten the prequal for anything until this month
