Cap One randomly showed me LOVE

Hey guys,

I wanted to check in and tell you about my recent experience with Capital One. I've had Cap One cards for about 10 years. It was one of my first cards when I was building my credit and I was always in the worst bucket the way I saw it. Although I started at a $300 limit and moved up to about $6,000 which is more than some others, I was stuck at that limit and a high interest rate for the better part of 7 years.

But last week when paying my Cap One bill I decided to try the SP CLI for old times sake. I had no illusions. I had been denied every single time I tried for an increase since 2018. Eventually I just stopped bothering and hadn't requested a CLI for years. So, even though I hadn't been spending much on the card in recent years, I rolled the dice and got a $15,000 increase in one shot! I was shocked. I don't know if I'm lucky or if they've been more generous lately? I'd love to hear from you all about your experiences with them. Thanks!

I've come to accept that Cap 1 has a tendency to have no real rhyme or reason most of the time. They seem to be great for some people, yet a complete enigma to others. You've had very nice growth with them. The new CLI is... impressive, congratulations on your Cap 1 love!

$15000 is one Helluva increase.

I started off (~10 years ago too) with $4800 across two C1 cards.  I am at $47000 today.

Re: Cap One randomly showed me LOVE

Cap1 has definitely been more generous lately. Since the start of the year, a bunch of us got +$3K or similar increases on bucketed cards. But a +$15K increase is... wow! Congrats!

Re: Cap One randomly showed me LOVE

capital one thrives in disasterous times lol... after 18 years of dealing with their non sense and closing a few cards.. they randomly pre approved me for a 14k QS card.. and i mean I had FLAWLESS history with them..Im glad they finally saw through their old ways lol.. now I wander how I'm gonna get that limit to grow? bout to pay off a 3000 statement balance lol. GOOD LUCK AND GRATS!!!

Re: Cap One randomly showed me LOVE

That is great. I just got a CLI from 2k to 5k on my Walmart MC. That card was originally through synchrony and was 2k from the switchover. I tried last week and was amazed I got increased. Again, no rhyme or reason to their CLIs.
