I opened my Cap One Platinum card in Jun 2002. I have had the same CL of 500$ since then. There was about 3 years were I didnt have any activity on it. Then when I started my quest to rebulid my credit months ago I saw the importance of keeping this card open since it is my longest account. On my TU report it shows opened on Jun 2002 the correct date of last activity (last month) the credit limit (500) the highest balence reported (531) and I have never missed a payment.
Now here is where it gets a little strange on my EQ report. I show that I have two Cap One accounts. They both report as opened Jun 2002 but here is the differences.

Did you call in to report a lost/stolen card in March of 2007?
Oh no it wasnt lost/stolen I just stoped using it for a few years. I called them about ohhhhh 8 or 9 months ago and asked if it was still open and if it was send me a new card. It was still open and they sent me a new card.
soemthing happened in march of 2007 that caused them to transfer your account information to a new account number. That is why it is double-reported.
are those reports directly from the reporting agency or thru a monitoring service?
They are showing on myfico EQ report and the report from myfreecredit report (EQ). It is listed as an open account under revolving accounts along with my other cards.
I just checked and its also showing two different account numbers
