Cap One

I was thinking of applying for a Cap One cc, but I've read on various forums here that they don't report credit limits to the bureaus, is this still the case?? Im trying to build my credit back up and so far I've done pretty good, no recent baddies, only 1 charge off over 2 years ago that I actually paid off. 5 inquiries on my EX, 2 on my EQ, and 0 on my TU...I have a car from 01/2007 that I've never been late paying on..I had a CC with Salute which killed me when they closed cause I only had the card for 9 months, but was never late and always paid in full..So far all 3 of my reports are singing the same song, that I need some type of revolving credit to increase my score. I've heard good and bad about Cap One, the bad is mainly they never report credit limits..Knowing my current info, how great are my chances of being approve for a Cap One card or even possibly a different card? Any insight would be greatly appreciated

09/2009 - EQ: 627 (due to an inaccurate post from the same charge off from over 2 years ago that I'm disputing, should be corrected very soon)

Re: Cap One approved!!!

Well I went on ahead and applied online for a Cap One card and I was approved for $300 CL...it's not much but it's $300 more of revolving credit than what I currently have, something is better than nothing...These forums are great!! I have really been educated... And the great thing is that it didn't take too many hard hit on my credit report..

Re: Cap One credit limit reporting

CapOne changed from reporting your highest past balance as your limit to reporting your actual credit limit quite some time ago - I think about a year ago.

Re: Cap One approved!!!

Congrats on the card! It should report to all three without a hiccup, and it should report the CL that was granted. If it doesn't, give them a call. I think it's been more like two years now.

Did you get a hard pull on all three reports?

Inqs aren't all that awful, especially for those starting from scratch. Just be sure to app wisely, so they don't get wasted on hopeless causes. But it's annoying when a CCC pulls all three --what, like you're apping a mortgage or something?? --or when Chase (for instance) pulls a hard when you ask for a CLI.

Re: Cap One approved!!!

Thanks...I'm not sure if they hit all three, I haven't gotten any of my alerts yet, once I find out I'll update here. I applied last night around 1am EST..I was actually sitting here looking up info on the different forums and decided what the h3ll..I won't apply for anything else for at least a few months..Gonna try for a Macy's card..then I'll have various credit showing on my report, which is what i needed. I'll feel pretty good about what I've done, just a few years ago I had credit scores of low 500's, so I really feel like I'm accomplishing something, still a ways to go but I'm getting thereSmiley Wink

Congrats on your approval!

Just give things some time (don't be in a hurry) and app wisely. You will be fine!

Re: Cap One approved!!!

You are right about that! I'm in no rush. I have a personal loan and now a credit card, I'll just pay on those and wait for things to move up..

Re: Cap One approved!!!

cap1 hint, on the app it says in order to get the highest credit line you need to do BT on app, here's the trick with cap if the terms you applying has no Bt fees, then you need to know cap1 Bt done at the standred rate has a grace period just like purchase check.I know I've been using cap Bts since january to pay my amazon card , and any other account with a $100+

If the BT is free I would any balance that I pay off monthy to get the most credit
