Cap one makes zero sense

I just don't get it anymore with them I have had a secured card with them since July and have used very heavily and always pif if not made more than 3 payments in a month never carry a balance with it and am never late and when they gave me the credit steps card with cash rewards with a measly 500 dollar credit limit i called there Backdoor number and spoke to senior account manager and explained to him that with a 500 dollar limit the card is very useless to me because I wanted to run my monthly expenses through it to earn rewards but with such small limit it was very much impossible unless making more than one payment a month and always worrying about going over the limit. I also told him that I don't understand why I was granted a such a low limit with them even tho I have proved myself with other card. Then I asked why is that the case when I was just approved for a discover more card with a starting cl double the crap one cl even though I already have history with you guys. I got the normal well capital one is a very conservative lender line and I laughed at him and said well I know discover is far more conservative than what you are and he says well you are on the credit steps program for cli's. So I told him I understand that but I am not eligible for that for another 6 months and even when the first cli takes effect it is still not even what discover started me with so what point is it to use the card and try to get cli when by the time the credit steps is over and I finally hit 1250 cl I would only be 250 dollars higher than what my discover card started at and by then could build a history with discover with far better rewards and probably end up with 2000 cl by the end of 6 months when the crap one just hits 750 and by time crap one hits 1250 I would be up to about 3000 with discover more card. He felt pretty stupid and dumbfounded as to what to say when I pretty much proved that the card and limit I was granted is useless and does not even compare to discover. I was also told my max limit with this card is 3000 and I also said that within the two years maybe more it would take me to get to that point I could already be at 5000 with discover easy maybe more if they are to hp my reports at time with no baddies and 0 inq. Just another great reason to stay away from cap one and there stingy unfair lending practices

Re: Cap one makes zero sense

I feel your frustration with Cap 1 from the credit line side.  I am not sure exactly why they have not granted you more, but it seems something did not meet their criteria when you applied.  I assume from you getting accepted with Discover that your credit score is over 720, so I would think Cap 1 would offer you more.  Maybe you can call the backdoor number on this website and speak to someone higher up.  I am not sure if it would help.

Of course, you could always cancel the card if you truly think it is unfair.  Either way, good luck.

Re: Cap one makes zero sense

Nope I was approved with a 694 tu score and I'm pretty sure they pulled eq at time I called to recon and at time I'm pretty sure I didn't even have score with them due to my sisters card that I'm au on not reporting to them yet since then it all of a sudden started reporting and now have 709 eq fico so I really am stumped and annoyed and as far as calling someone higher up I called a senior account manager number

Smiley Very Happy I will save you the hassle, do not even bother ever calling Cap1 again,  You will get the same answer every single time, they are like robots "You are the perfect customer, you PIF every month, you are the perfect candidate for an AR, blah blah"

Really?Smiley Very Happy You realize we are talking about Cap1 right? LOL (just being sarcastic)

I have done what you said and not to mention my FICO's have gone up over 200 points since I apped for the two Cap1 cards I have had over a year and a half.

500CL

750CL

Cap1 softs my EQ report like clockwork every month, and they see my other CL's of 10K 16K 7500 etc......but will not offer one red cent to me.

EDIT to add: Both cards have been SD'd for the last 5 months and I will be closing them before the Af hits next year.
