Cap1 CLI Denied in error

Cards been open 90 days, 3 statements.

3K SL

Charge 2-3k per month, PIF before statement cuts.

Asked for a CLI on day 91, Denied CLI... Hmmm...

They denied me because another account showed a 30 day late in July 2016.

This account wasn't actually late, it was IIB 5 years go, and was mistakenly marked late (it's closed, long story)

Regardless, they (the CU who marked a closed account late) finally fixed the "late" Tradeline by removing it from Equifax .

But now Cap1 thinks I had a late payment in July with another lendor... Which i didn't...

I checked my credit a day after getting the denial email, and iEquifax shows it has been properly removed, no late's for nearly 5 years (student loans)

I think this late wasnt removed when I applied for the CLI.

I tried again for the CLI (now that Equifax has it removed), still denied.

Same reason...

How long will cap1 hold this "erroneous 30 day late" against me?

I know it's been removed, I pulled myFICO and Equifax, the tradeline is gone completely.

I dont need the CLI this instant, but want the card to grow sooner than later.

Re: Cap1 CLI Denied in error

Even though it has been removed from your reports the last sp Capital One did on you reported the late payment.  I am sure when they do another sp and see that the 30 day late is gone, they will give you an increase.

I don't know the time frame but look at the last time they did a sp and you can go from there.  Maybe someone else can chime in on how long it will take before they do another sp.

Thank you for the wealth of knowledge I have learned from these forums. I am logging off as of November 9, 2022. I wish everyone great success.

Re: Cap1 CLI Denied in error

Cap1 is a few months behind on SP's 2-3 that they use for CLI's..  So you can try again in a few months and should have better results

Re: Cap1 CLI Denied in error

Contacted the EO

They called me 2 days later, gave me a case number, PIN and a number to the person working this "case".

- he's on vacation for a few more days

Hmmm... We'll see!

I asked them to re-soft pull, and asked for a 2K bump 3k to 5K

how often do the SP on their own?

Re: Cap1 CLI Denied in error

I've noticed CapOne does them at 5 months or so. 3 months is no good.
