Figuring "it can't hurt", I just applied for a CLI on my QS1 before my first statement even cut. It was issued with a limit of 500 against FICO scores in the 600s, now all are 700. I've put about $1300 through it (paying it off frequently) since I got it about 3 weeks ago (First statement is on the 12th).
The last negative has dropped off my CR (100pt gain since getting the card), and my income has gone up by over 50% due to a raise at work.
Got the notice they're reviewing and it'll take 2-3 days. Assuming it won't go through, but figured it'd be pretty funny if it does, no?
Anyone ever successfully pulled this move?
2-3 days is denial 99% of the time... It was only a SP and no harm/foul and can try monthly until you get one.
Yeah, that was my way of thinking as well. I should have just waited until now to apply in the first place, but wanted to have it before going on a trip where I was going to be renting a car for the protection offered by the car.
If you have gained 100 points and your last baddy has fallen off you might want to try Chase's Pre-Qualification site along with Citi's and see if you have any offers! Chase and Citis are pretty solid! I kinda missed that part of you gaining 100 points and last baddy falling off!
It is possible to get a CLI before your first statement. I did. QS1 was originally $3,000 and went up to $9,000.
I'm definitely hoping to get a Chase card down the road, but they bought out the source of the last baddie and it was on my record as a Chase default, so I figure I'm on some sort of blacklist for a while…
