Don't now who I ticked off, but I just don't know what to do anymore. Had a charged off Cap1 account that was settled with a collection agency and Cap1 (via an agreement with the CA) issued me a new CC upon payoff with a $200 limit. I received one $300 CLI and that was two years ago. I have had the card for four years. Reading the boards here I called the backdoor numbers too many times to count for a CLI and have always been told no offers are available. Recently I have been pushy and still ... NADA. I have one 30 day late and that was due to my purse being stolen. A new card had to be issued and I had to close and open a new checking account. Cap1 has that noted and advised me would not effect my history since I was not able to make a payment as scheduled.
The only "help" the Sr. Account supervisors could give me was to open a new account. All the backdoor reps were even confused as to why no increases and no promos available. I then asked about Credit Steps and was told that was only offered to new account holders ... so open a new card. One supervisor even went as far to tell me Cap1 hardly declines anyone. Well... lo and behold here I come.
Received a decline letter from Cap1 yesterday stating they could not approve my request for a new card because there are too many delinquent past or present Capital One credit obligation(s). I am totally stunned and amazed. The charge off was PIF and is due to fall off in Dec of this year. THEY issued me a new card when it was paid off. I only have the above mentioned late in four years of payment history. I thought they pulled a report from an agency, but the letter states "...the decision was based stictly on a review of application information according to our credit guidelines. We did not request a copy of your credit file and therefore no inquiry will be placed on your credit report."
I don't even know how to go about contacting regarding this or what to say. Does anyone have any suggestions (other than burn or sock drawer the card)?
