After viewing this thread, I didn't notice that my QS-1 card had an annual fee. Pretty bad on my part. This card is pretty much my daily driver. Started with a $300 Credit Limit, and up to $4.3k at the moment.
I called in inquiring about it, and they did indeed confirm that there was a fee involved. I mentioned paying off the account, and closing it. The represantive quickly said "no need, we can get the fee permanntely waived for you" ( she mentioned "we really wouldn't want to lose you" ). After basically re-reading the same terms as before, my QS-1 Card no longer has a annual fee.

It's great to hear you got that AF taken care of! ![]()
Do you know if they permanently waived your fee, or did you get upgraded to a QS? If you were upgraded they'll send you a new card (same account number, but with "Quicksilver" instead of "Quicksilver One"). Either way is really the same outcome, I just seldom hear of a perma-waiver.
Again, congrats!

I started a chat with them around the time you replied. Shot down for the AF waived. July something is when I get billed the "membership fee" for the year. Shot down for PC again, try again in a few weeks. I made it all the way to an account specialist.
I'll try again in a couple weeks for a PC via chat. Maybe EO for permanent AF waiver. Then I won't mind if I ever PC.
Don't give up, _NERD!
Just keep trying via chat... it can be elusive for some (like myself) but in the end it was worth the wait - I now have a no-AF card with lots of history and good rewards. I'll also add that if they haven't given you a PC by the time your AF hits in July you can ask for a waiver then... even if they only waive half that's still better than nothing, and it gives you another whole year to work on it!
Hang in there! ![]()

I'm assuming it's an "upgrade" then. They are sending me a new card, same account number, still master card, etc.
I did this just in time too, as my AF was coming up next month!

Sounds like they upgraded you to QS. When you PC the QS1, you retain the account number and it is still MC.
Quicksilver 1 is way sub-prime. You should have gone with the Quicksilver Visa Sig. At best the Quicksilver 1 can be upgraded to a World Mastercard once you establish a higher limit and history.

I was mistaken in my late Night stupor. .. it was Platinum or QS1. I'll take the QS1 over the Platinum for the 1.5% cashback. Probably should have just waited until my scores went up a bit more & apped for Discover but it is what it is at this point! Already got the HP so I'll deal with the card for a bit I guess!

IMO, you can do much, much worse than a QS1. It's not on-par with Discover, but it's not meant to be - it's for folks who are just starting off or rebuilding, and in time it can usually be upgraded to a no-AF QS.
