Hi Forum,
I am planning to finally apply for the capital 1 Venture X for New Years. Just wanted to see if there was any hard set rules like the chase 5/24 or anything I should know before pulling the trigger. Have not had inqueries since July roughly when i opened 2 new cards. All payments and relationships with existing banks are great / never missed payment. 2 bucketed cap1 cards that are 1 to 2 years old. Highest CL is 12000. TYIA!
To avoid any issues when applying be sure all 3 CRAs are not frozen or locked.
I believe cap1 has a limit of two cards now. I don't think they'll do a PC to venture x. You'd have to close one of the other cards before applying. Someone else might have some different info tho.
Also, you can check and see what other cards you're pre approved for. They won't do a pre approval for the VX, but if you're approved for all the other ones, you should probably be good for the VX. You'll still need to close one of the other cards, though.
I would 100% check if you qualify for venture prior to applying, I would be hesitant if you don't qualify for it

I'm glad you mentioned this, I planned on freezing experian. I've seen this work for others, is there somewhere you know I can read up on this more? I see mixed opinions
I've heard its 2 sub prime cards and up to 5 prime cards like the Venture X, at the same time i've heard this before as well..

I personally would avoid freezing anything as is it worth it to save one HP and take two and be denied for that one extra HP? As echoed make sure you try the pre-qual right before and that you are qualified for the venture card. If so you are likely to get the venture X otherwise Cap1 is a roll of the dice. They are very much like Chase 5/24 and very anti-churning although know one really knows their exact rules. Many people have been denied with 800+ scores across the board for too many new accounts and the likes as Cap1 like spend. Just do you homework first. They really don't care about scores really 675 likely would get it for you as long as not many new accounts or inquiries and they think they can make money off you from spend or carrying balances etc. Best of luck.

DPs suggest this practice doesn't help non-prime customers.
They've already soft pulled your exp, they know what's on it anyway.

@onepeace25 - if you freeze any of your CRs then expect the application to be denied. Just because you may read something on Reddit or other sources such as YouTube (or elsewhere) doesn't mean you'll achieve success. Just keep in mind, if declined, there is no reconsideration with Capital One so I would avoid any shenanigans and make sure CRs are open if you intend on applying.
Another item that was brought up, you currently hold 2 Capital One core cards so that may be an issue if you decide to apply given the number of legacy or core cards that are allowed by Capital One.
