Cap1 just closed my credit card account due to inactivity. No warning I just got a email tonight. It's already showing closed on the app. I'm trying to get someone on the phone now.

This is my oldest credit account and I would like to keep it.

I was always told cap1 didn't close accounts due to inactivity is this something new?

Sorry to hear about this, but thank you for posting it!

I've got several unused Capital One cards with small credit limits and I wouldn't care if they closed several of them... but one of them is my oldest account, so I dug it out and used it last night based on your post.  Smiley Happy

A triple pull.  That's what there is to lose!

Believe me I am not a fan of the triple pull but op was inquiring about getting his account re-instated which should not require a triple pull as it is not an app for a new account. Cap1 is a soft pull for a cli, a soft pull for a product change and I imagine a soft pull for re-instating the same account.

Maybe, but IMO there is no reason to assume that!

Re: Cap1 closed my account due to inactivity.

Thanks for this post. I just looked it up and apparently I haven't used my QS for one year. I'll be using it tomorrow, also thanks to your post.

Good luck. I do hope you are able to work something out with Capital One.

More than enough credit.

Even with it closed, it will still stay on your credit reports. I opened my Cap1 in 2002 and closed it in 2010. It is still reporting on all 3 reports for a total time of 17 years, 11 months.

So it appears you really didn't need the Cap1; so IMHO, if I were you, I wouldn't worry about the closure.

I have not known Capital One to forgive small charges. I had my Hulu on there when it was exactly $.99 and I got a bill every month for $.99.

Interesting, perhaps it depends on the exact card type?  I've been taking advantage of this on my QS1 for years and years, and more recently added the Walmart MC.  Works every month.  Although thinking back, I never just make a $0.99 charge and let it sit.  I always have a larger balance but pay it down to exactly $1.00 right before the statement cuts.  Dunno if that makes the difference.

@core thank you for the insider tip! Smiley LOL @Anonymous  I ran a test this month and can confirm it worked like a charm. I also reload $10/mo with Discover for the $2 small balance stmt credit. I shop amazon monthly and tend to use the reload balance feature to ensure SD cards remain active. This is a nice little boost to that effort.
