Re: Cap1 hasn't Crap1'nd me yet,Part 3

Congrats lando! WTG! It's a joy to see a cli, and be surprised! Smiley Happy

I agree with Scarlet's post completely.

I started out with Cap1 9 years ago, with 1 little $300 Visa Gold card. And added an additional Visa card(same cl), and a M.C.(opening cl:$500) the next year.

Through time, and good pay history, and combining both Visa's, I now have a Visa Platinum($3,200cl) and a Plat.M.C.($2,000cl). PLUS the deletion of the A/F, PLUS the monthly fee.

Treat them well and they will be good to you. Pay late, and/or go over the limit(like I did) and they can be a nightmare for you. Smiley Happy

They WILL grow with you....up to a point. They have ceilings on the cl's they give you. I have reached the ceilings on both my cards. But as I've had them for so long, I don't see me closing them.

The crazy thing Syl is that I have had this one particular Platinum Visa card less than 6 months and received 2 CLI's even though I went overlimit by 8 dollars before my first statement cut. I paid the whole balance off in full as soon as I saw that I was overlimit. I mean quick. They did not hit me with an overlimit fee!!!!! I dodged a serious bullet with Cap1 in this case. I wont make that mistake again.

Wow lando, you lucked out there. And you were VERY alert and sensitive to how they would view the o/l. Good for you! You are in a perfect mindset. Don't change it!

I feel like you and Cap1 are off to a VERY comfortable relationship. Smiley Happy

They have looked out for me. On the other card, I asked for a AF exemption for this upcoming September and they gave it to me.

That's cool Lando.  I got my Cap 1 last month with a $500.00 limit.  I was very new to these fourms and based on what I read, I immediately used the back door # to ask for a CLI.  Of course, I was declined, but spoke with a supervisor who told me how to get a CLI in the future.  Two weeks ago, I got the letter and pamphlet in the mail re: Credit Steps.  For the 4th billing cycle, they will give me a $250.00 cli so long as I keep everything going well, which I will do.  It is good to see you get some luv.  It certainly is encouraging!

We all have to support each other.  Cap1 has shown me some love.  I just wish HSBC and Wamu would show me some more.

You just got to play the game with Capone-

I have 2 $500 limit cards - one opened in 2001 other in 2005.
Both had AF's-

Now it's 1 card with a 6K limit with the old date- no AF.

This was less than 1 year after a late with them too-

Well, Cap 1 isnt trying to hear anything about offerng me a second card.  I keep getting denied.  That is ok!  I know I need to prove myself with the one I have.  Not may complaints as just a month and a half ago, all I had was my lil $300.00 Orchard Bank card.  Smiley Happy

How do you play the game with them?  I know it involves opening new cards and then combining them, but there are so many considerations there.  Like the triple pulls and the fact that it's hard to trust them to get the "keep the history" part right.

Re: Cap1 hasn't Crap1'nd me yet,Part 3

I paid the old balances off-

Used it a little, idle for a month- beat the crap out of it for 2 months and put about 3K though it (with 2 500 lines) , PIF let it sit a month-

Then used the back door number-
I never had any doubts about them doing it right- we went over it like 3 times on the phone-

APR is 12.9 (a little lower now but no statement after prime adjustement)

Capone really seems to HATE being paid off and idle-

I would have a hard time justifying a triple pull as well- as I know better now-
