There is no limit. EO confirmed and my father has 3, all from Capital One. I had 3 but closed 2. None of them were ever orchard bank or HSBC.
Not true either. There is a limit. It's 5.

Maybe there's some confusion with the line above the 5 limit?: "I have previously applied for a Capital One credit card 2 or more times in the last 30 days."
Perhaps back-to-back applications is where there's a snafu?
Well hey, check this out!
Limit of 2 (Platinum): http://www.capitalone.com/credit-cards/classic-platinum/disclosures/
Limit of 5 (Venture): http://www.capitalone.com/credit-cards/venture-rewards/disclosures/
Kept Googling. Found a max of 2 for Journey, max of 5 for QS, max of 2 for QSO. So, looks like if you're going with their "lower" card, your max is 2. If you're going with their "higher" card, the max is 5.
Hmph.
The 1st acct is eligible for a pc to QS, but that doesn't help the CL.
I am going to close the 2nd acct anyway.

Alittle off topic have a QS with a 4500 CL and the other QS with a 500 dollar limit after credit steps... What the heck is 500 limit going to do me? I hear of all these ppl getting 3k CLI's after 6 months, not for me on the 500 dollar limit one. I am not about to go through the EO office on that one I will just close it as it won't hurt my Util at all. Cap One is a weird weird lender.
After credit steps? What was the limit prior? $300?

Yep Pathetic. Anyways, only hurt to me was the 3 bureau pull... Utilization is trival with regards to credit lines when you factor in a small 500.. Seems like capital one likes people with around 600-620 equifax scores starts then from 300-1k then boosts them to 3k. Anyways, time to close it out. No loss to them nor myself. I will keep the higher limit one open.
I could be way off base as C1, makes no sense. Even ppl with 750 scores will get 500 lines of credit.. shrug.
It honestly makes NO sense. When I got approved for my cards I had a CS of 610 and I started with $3K each (where I'm at now). Waiting for the steps increase and hoping to get to $5K. I've ran a lot through them and pay the card off weekly.

Perhaps income and all outstanding credit might be a factor here?
