So, there's no real way to know when CapOne will reinstate their function of combining accounts. Having spoken to countless reps, I've been told 'perhaps a couple of weeks' or 'maybe after this month' or 'check online as early as tomorrow' and 'when it happens, you will receive an email'. Probably the only thing they haven't said is, that it has been permanently removed. In fact, I've been reassured every time that it has not. So, the the only certainty is that, it will be back one day.
But alas! Something that I know about CapOne is that they aren't shy to credit reallocation. However, I've never done it, maybe someone here has. And if so, perhaps it's a loop-hole, even if you had to sacrifice a small portion. I'm not aware of a credit minimum, is there one and if so, what is it?
If I were to call and ask for my limit (or most of it, given a minimum) from card #2 be reallocated to card #1 and have card #2 closed, would this work? Or would they just call that account combination and remind me that option isn't available at this time? 🤔
That would be my thought, but I don't know that...
Unfortunately, CL reallocations are not performed by Capital One, regardless of product. The account combination feature still appears to be disabled until further notice. When the account combination feature was available, there was no option to partially reallocate the CL, it was either all or nothing.
It looks like they are setting it up again online, I can get throught most of the steps but the last one gives a "not ready yet message" posted screen shots here, this is for combining accounts and not realocation.
