When I got mine it was $300 credit step at 7th statement to $500 at one year auto CLI to $2000. I had 5 lates and a paid tax lien at the time.
I have 2 cards through the CS program. The limits were $1,000 and $2,000. On my 6th statement for both I received $2,000 and $1,000 increases, respectively. So no, you are not limited to what your letter says. Mine also said I'd have access to an additional $500.

I think that is what confused me....they told me the same thing at the same time telling me once I get the CLI I wouldnt be eligible again for another 6 months. Maybe I got something twisted?
Credit steps is a one time increase... After that you wait 6 months minimum for next increase is what they told me.
I was just denied an increase when my $1500 card hit 1 year old for not enough card usage. I guess charging $100 a month and PIF is a bad thing with CapOne. I've contacted them thru Facebook and am waiting on a call in the next 3-5 business days.
CapOne is a rebuild lender and the cards have served their purpose. If they don't bump up my $1500 and $750 cards I will just wait till they are both 2 years old (for optimal FICO scoring) and then close the accounts. They are already my low limit cards so I don't care. I can get BECU to bump my card up to make up for any CL lost with the CapOne closures.

My credit has changed dramatically in the past 6 months as I have had all baddies to drop off. CapOne wouldnt answer my question when I asked if I am limited to $250 increase through credit steps. Honestly, that wont do me a bit of good as I will be going on app spree soon and will get better limits...also, I have followed the credit steps and used card heavily in addition to PIF. They say once you get your CLI you arent eligible for another for 6 months. Who here has had success getting a higher CLI than the pre-qual through the credit steps?
My situation was similar to yours. I was at MAYBE 600 FICO when I got the card with a $500 limit. Used it, and got a bump to $750 at six months. Well at six months my FICO had increased quite a bit, but they still stuck to $750. My advice is to wait and see what happens at six months, and email the Executive Office if you don't get what you need. I have dealt with them once, and they were very polite and professional.
yes, but see, I am trying to beat the Auto-CLI which they say will come on your 7th statement. I want to request on my 6th statement because they explained to me once I get the $250 bump I wouldnt be eligible for another increase for another 6 months...eventhough I wouldnt be in the credit steps any more.
Correct.

I started with a cap1 platinum credit steps in Oct 2013 with $300. Six months later in Apr 2014, I log on to find my limit was $4300!! Just about fell out of my chair! lol It was only supposed to increase to $750, so that shows it's possible. The next day I asked to PC to the QS and they did.
I can see them doing something more for you than the $750 since you said your CR has improved so much. Good luck!
Usually after 6 months you get a CLI bump to 750 and it stops.
Cap 1 has gotten better in the last few years, they used to not even allow you to request a CLI or they would stop your Credit steps (i have a cap 1 credit steps card stuck right now at 500$ even though i have another cap 1 card at 3k LOL)

My story on Cap1 cards......
opened platinum at 500 0n 12/12, then on 5/13 via credit step got bumped to 1500, sat there until last month when I sent email to EO asking for 4K, they countered with 500, so i'm at 2000 right now.
Opened Sony visa on 4/13 at 500, then on 9/13 went to 750, and then on 2/14 got bumped to 2250.....present.
minium spending, highest bal is 330.

+1, I have seen people with 5750 limit on QS1......without any PC'ing or anything.

Cap1 call the shots not you and I or anybody else for that matter.
we are basically at their mercy........at least until our profile improves. imo
