We got this card specifically for credit building, and yet it's impossible to get this card to a $0 balance for the statement date. Any input?
Monthly fee charged on the 13th. It must have charged right at midnight because at 10:30pm when I checked, balance was still $0.
Next morning - 14th - the balance was $5 (monthly fee). I paid immediately and got the confirmation that the posting date would be the 14th.
Payment actually posts on the 15th, which leaves a $5 balance reported to the 3 CBs. I need this card to report $0 for AZEO. But how? I can't schedule a payment when there's a $0 balance, but if I make the payment the same day the fee posts then it doesn't reflect by the statmwnt date.
This is made more difficult by the nightmare-ish "moving target" CapOne statement dates.
Any input here??
If the monthly fee is predictable (i.e. billed on the cycle date - which are now variable dates), pay it advance directly from your bank. In other words, push the payment from your FI.
As another option to cover the fee, Capital One allows you to pull a payment that's 10% over your current balance. If you owe $50, you can pay them $55.

@FinStar is right. Also, to report a $0 balance...one must have a zero balance or a credit balance. Push the $5 monthly fee from your bank to them. Since you know when its going to post, make sure you push the amount like 5 days before.
... or make the Capital One card the one card with a balance? Every other card gets paid to zero?
Why try to push a stone up a hill?
I dont recall any capone card having a monthly fee. It been many years since they had those type of cards so you could check to see if you can PC it to something without a fee. However, if youre fighting to get an AZEO, why not bring one of your other cards to $0? Also, you can pay 10% more when paying a balance so if you have $50, you can pay $55 (as another member stated). The other option would be to push payment from your bank account to capital one.
Why does $5 matter?
You can pay up to 110% of your balance.
So if you charge $200, pay $220 and you will have a $20 credit before the $5 charge.
GL!

@wvasweetness, I know this is contrary to the prevailing AZEO winds on this forum, but I wouldn't sweat a $5.00 balance; my bet is it won't make any difference at all in your scores.
Chapter 13:
I categorically refuse to do AZEO!
All good ideas and advice - thanks all! I'm going to try to make an overage payment next time and see what happens.
I agree with the others. Just add $5 to your payment amount and you'll be covered every time.
