CapOne Quick Silver One vs CapOne Quick Silver

I mentioned in that lengthy thread that I had gotten an upgrade from my CapOne Platinum Card to a CapOne QS (I already have a QS1 card).

What is the real difference between QS and QS-1 ?   Anything that will make my credit journey more pleasant?

The QS 1 has a fee while the QS  has no fee. I would think the QS can grow to a higher limit

Backwoods hit the nail on the head. Your credit journey will be much more pleasant without an AF.

Re: CapOne Quick Silver One vs CapOne Quick Silver

The Quicksilver is the superior card. With the Quicksilver One they designed it to give you the Quicksilver rewards while not trusting you by hitting you with a yearly $39 fee. This is great for them because they can issue you a card and you get rewards. The regular Quicksilver was designed as a standard card for those that can be trusted to pay back the money and by extension the yearly fee is $0. Basically by having applied for the Quicksilver One you made a major mistake since the Platinum would have been better in most cases. Anyway all cards are better without annual fees when in the low range.

Re: CapOne Quick Silver One vs CapOne Quick Silver

I wouldn't consider any card with an annual fee, even at the beginning of my rebuild (and certainly not now at this stage) unless I had ironclad guarantees that it would graduate to a no-AF card after so many months, or unless it had superior rewards for something I purchased regularly that simply weren't available anywhere else.

Thank you all for your answers.  I will probably close the QS-1 before the next AF is assessed, especially if I can get a CLI on the QS.

Woah, while that may sound like good advice, it may not be the best advice.  Right before my one year anniversary, I COMBINED those exact same cards and avoided the annual fee.  The one difference is you get the SL from your QS1 added to your QS.   Also, I made sure to get my 6 month CLIs on the cards before combining them, which makes the move even more worthwhile.  It is simple to do, and can be done online without any human interaction, if that matters.  If you have any bonus at all on your QS1, make sure to apply it at least a few days before the combination, or you lose it, as it does not transfer over.

To those mocking anyone who would get a card with an annual fee, can you remind us how large this annual fee is?  Does CapOne charge it right away or after a year?(I dont recall).  I dont think the OP's move to get a QS1 was any more of a devastating mistake than mine was.  Some folks spend more on a date, and the card very likely helped his/my credit journey, even if it isnt the best card to have according to some posters.  There certainly are far worse cards.  I'm not usually a betting man, but I wager if the OP gets CLIs on both and then combines them before the annual fee, he will be quite pleased with where he is sitting.  While I respect various opinions, some of the judgmental talk might serve us better if it were shelved, at least until the poster thought it over for a moment.

EpicSwoleness(what the heck inspired that name anyhow? lol), if you get the CLIs and then combine, I think you will consider that a rather epic day.  I know I did.  Best wishes!!!!!

Re: CapOne Quick Silver One vs CapOne Quick Silver

Hey EpicSwoleness1 – no need to give up on your QuicksilverOne just yet.

I had a QuickSilverOne for 7 years. Every year I’d call and request a waiver of the annual fee and every year Capital One did grant an annual fee waiver. After the first few years, I was able to get Capital One to permanently waive the annual fee on the card. Just this year, I upgraded the card to a regular QuickSilver. (I had not been in any particular hurry to upgrade because a QS1 with no fee is exactly the same as a QS).

If you like your QS1, keep it. Try asking for a fee waiver it comes due.

lol nice!  You mean like an epic "pump" or whatever it's called?  Im not familiar with the terms.  I used to be quite into it, the science and supplements too, but I was a hard gainer.  I think there is some subconscious switch that for me was just in the wrong place.  I would like to return.

I dont wish to make your thread off topic, but I just thought that was a great name and wanted to say so.  Some may have noticed I also love the word "epic", even though I generally dislike most internet words.   I'm serious though, please consider combining the 2 after CLIs, depending on how many cards you currently have, and/or if you're willing to apply for another if you need to in order to keep at the optimal number.

If you're already there, I think combing would at least be worthy of serious consideration.  Ive seen people who repeat this method with CapOne to use as a "pry bar" card, to get you higher limits elsewhere.  I've only done 1 combination, but am open to doing more.  I actually found it kind of FUN!  The usual disclaimer on here: YMMV.
