My CapOne secured Platinum Mastercard was upgraded to unsecured today after having had it for 10 months. My 49.00 security deposit was refunded and applied to my balance. So that's confirmation that fairly recently issued secured Platinum cards do now graduate to unsecured.
Next step is to see if I can get them to increase the limit or upgrade the card to a QS (I already have the QS1) ... but I'll wait until I'm out of the garden April 3rd.
Congratulations on the card unsecuring!

Congratulations on that! My second card ( unsecured) is with cap1 also Plat MC. They gave me a toy limit but I'm happy 😊
That is so cool!
How did you go about getting it upgraded? When I inquired about turning my secured platinum card into an unsecured card, I was told there was no way that could be done.

It depends when you first opened the account. Accounts before a certain date in 2016 will likely never graduate, accounts open after a certain date have an option to upgrade automatically at some point in the future.
Do you know your opening date?
Hi ABCD2199,
"What were your FICO08s on approval and at graduation?"
I didn't have a FICO score when I was approved for the card (didn't have 6 months credit history then) but my creditkarma FAKO scores were very low 600s. When it graduated my FICOs were 733 / 733 / 734.
That's good to hear. I opened at Cap1 secured card in July 2017. I was thinking of moving away from Cap1 if they wouldn't graduate it but if they end up doing it, I'll reconsider. It'll be at least a year before I apply for anything else though. Current cards are Cap1 secured ($200), Discover It secured ($200) and Amex Everday ($2000).
