I am not sure how I avoided this rule. I have 4 CapitalOne cards. I have the VentureOne, product change from a platinum MC opened in 1999. I also have a QuickSilver, product change from a Visa platinum opened in 2003. I also have a Walmart Rewards, formerly a Synchrony Walmart card that became the WR after CapitalOne aquired the Walmart account. And finally, I have the SavorOne card that I opened last year in March. I am positive that the QuickSilver is bucketed, the VentureOne may be bucketed and the WR may possibly be bucketed as well. I am waiting for a year to go by on the SavorOne approval date and will check to see if I am preapproved for the VentureX. We will see how it goes. I hope this post doesn't muddy the waters as far as figuring out how this rule is applied.

Well for one, cobranded cards don't factor into the 2-card limit. Secondly yours was opened with the previous lender (Sync), and we don't know how that factors into the rule.

As for your two core cards, the two card rule is somewhat recent. It used to be possible to have 5 cards - 2 subprime (i.e. Platinum, Secured, QS1, VentureOne, SavorOne), and 3 prime (i.e. Venture, QS, Savor).

@OmarGB9 -- just to clarify, Venture One and Savor One were never considered part of the same subprime family as that of the Secured, Platinum or Quicksilver One products. The 'One' branding for Venture One and Savor One were simply distinction of reward-earning products when compared to their peer cards which had annual fees.  The latter also featured different versions (similar to QS) which offered Good and Excellent credit tiers with/without SUB or intro APRs.

@FinStar got it. I figured the "One" on those was like the QuickSilver One, which *is* considered subprime and is notoriously difficult to PC out of/lose the AF. Smiley Happy
