Capital One - Actualy Number of Days Between Requested CLI

I posted the following in an old thread but got no responses so I figured a new thread would do best. I also included some addition info;

My last requested CLI was on 2/14/15 so counted the days and figured 180 days was 6 months but apparently not. Since 8/13 I've requested CLI and gotten the document declining me "recent change in limit". I got my credit steps on 6/10 but based on info from this forum that doesn't matter or effect customer request time frames.". Anyone know the exact number of days between customer requested CLIs? Guess I'll keep trying everyday until they give me another reason.

This was my first ever card opened on 12/22/14 and approved for $300. Read about people getting requested CLIs after 60 days so I tried on 2/14/15 and was approved going from $300 to $800 - a $500 increase. On 6/10 I got my credit steps increase and went from $800 to $1300 - a $500 increase. According to my math and spreadsheet 6 months from last requested CLI was on 8/13. I've been trying daily and every document has given the decline reason as "recent change to credit'. Also it was a QuickSilver aone originally but they removed the fee, so does make it a QS now or do I still got to technically get that changed?

Other Accounts; Type / Open / Limit
Mortgage / 12/14 / $64k
QS / 12/14 / $300 - $800 - $1300 (referenced acc)
QS / 1/15 / $800 - $1500 - $2000(cs)
Comm/VS / 3/15 / $500 - $900 (2x$200cli yesterday)
Chase Freedom / 3/15 / $3500
Shared Sucured Installment / 4/15 / $302/$500
4-6 medical collections

Any insights appreciated! Thanks!

Re: Capital One - Actualy Number of Days Between Requested CLI

With capitalone it is hard to speculate. I received soft pull CLI's on all my cards 2.14.15. It has been 6 months and I was declined a CLI on all my cards.

My experience has been, I get a soft pull CLI on all my cards once a year. It happens in February. Some people have wild sucess on getting CLI's earlier and more often. But, I don't think that it the norm.

Keep using your cards, paying off the balances or making as large of payments as you can. If you absolutely can't wait, you can always throw out a message to CapitalOne via Facebook. They will get back to you with an answer.

Re: Capital One - Actualy Number of Days Between Requested CLI

i had a CLI that i requested in 2/2015 and then i got credit steps in 3/2015. When I called before regarding CLIs on these cards (they have been merged since with other cards), that the 180 days would be from the 3/2015 date, which was my credit steps date.

So if you got credit steps 6/2015, looks like itll be 180 days after that.

But who knows, just what they told me.

Re: Capital One - Actualy Number of Days Between Requested CLI

Its rare they approve more than one CLI every 6 months. But just because 6 months have passed doesnt mean you are guaranteed a CLI. We have to get out of the "x amount of time = CLI" mindset because there are many other factors and capital one is usually fairly conservative with CLIs. They give large limits initially on some products, but they are fairly tight on CLIs.

Re: Capital One - Actualy Number of Days Between Requested CLI

For the LUV button, the timeframe is 6 calendar months (sometimes minus 1 day) since last successful CLI.   Since you had a successful CLI on 6/10, you'd want to request on 12/10.  You might have luck on 12/9, however.

Re: Capital One - Actualy Number of Days Between Requested CLI

Definitely not in the "Time = CLI" Kinsey. Denail reason is because "limit change too recently". If it was "low score", "low usage/pmts" or any other reason then I'd understand the denail but currently it's time, nothing else. many people have posted that they have received requested CLI increases in which the steps was before or in the middle off their last increase. It's self requested CLIs that are suppose to be 6 months and steps or auto supposely based on many threads in this forums don't effect that.

I have used the card a lot and made multiple monthly payments except when I got my Chase and that replaced 5% spend categories. My FICOs went up over 100 points since I got the card. From no credit (except 1 4y AU CC perfect pmt history and medical collections) to a 8m mortgage that has been getting double plus pmts 10% paid, 4 revolving accounts good standing and still dealing with med CAs.

Forgot to include a couple months ago I got a Sucured Discover It for $2500 as well.

@SEarth;
Are you saying the credit steps CLI resets the timeline. As I recall many threads which we could search saying otherwise. But if that's the case then I guess I must wait. Smiley Happy just wanting my credit to grow with me.

Thanks all for your input and insights! Sincerely appreciated!

For Cap One, any CLI will reset your timeline, whether Credit Steps, LUV button, manual review, or auto-LUV.    AFAIK, there are only two way to get CLIs with Cap One in less than a 6 month timeframe:  one is to request CLI before your Credit Steps date and the other is to request a manual review of your CL through the EO.  Again, neither are guaranteed.

Just remember that credit is a journey, not a race.   I have to tell myself that all of the time!

Re: Capital One - Actualy Number of Days Between Requested CLI

Ya got declined on my old QS at 4500$ limit for CLI last CLI was 2/14/2015.. Oldest card or would close it.. Obvious reason was not enough useage on account or something to that extent is what letter stated(probably only put 100 through in in the last 6 months and don't carry a balance at all on that card anymore)..  That is obvious I have a 10k QS VS and a 4.5k QS, which one would you carry/use.. Don't quite know what I am going to do with it yet as I really am not going to use the card anymore thus it most likely won't grow anymore, but charge something every 3 months to keep it active as it is my oldest TL, but it is bucketed as a sup-prime card still..  So ya that card will likely remain at 4.5k until they close it or some miracle happens.. Have no doubt my venture and new qs will get a CLI around 2 months as I have pushed alot through them to meet bonuses.  Credit is a strange game that one cannot always win.  No I will not be emailing the EO office about being stuck at 4.5k CL either Smiley Happy  .. Even though this card has a 11% apr...  Only thing that is attractive about it.
