I have a BJs Perks Plus card, and today received the new shiny red Capital One BJ's card. Once it can be activated, my QuickSilver card loses all value.
QuickSilver is my oldest credit card, and same as experienced by others my low limit isn't growing. I have AMEX Gold, BCP, and other far better cards with much higher limits. So QuickSilver was long ago relegated to a sock drawer card, mostly. EXCEPT I use it to access Capital One's "Credits for Shopping" that has solid percetages of places I actually shop. Like 10% off CVS. Compared to Discover currently give 5% on Drug Stores. I just saw 12% off Netflix Shop and I didn't even know there was one.
I only have the Perks Plus, so I'll just get 1.5% on everything else. My BJs card is under a family plan "extra" so without being the "main" account holder - even though I pay for my own membership at the lower price - I can't even upgrade to the Elite card - though my family plan account owner has upgraded to Elite overall. Until now, my getting out from under that sub-account, and paying full price for my own Elite membership, hasn't been worth the hassle or cost. But with the Elite level getting 2% I may consider it - although I have other 2% cards. And my BJs card has a far higher limit than my QuickSilver.
Capital One has certainly considered lots of QuckSilver card holders also have BJ's cards, are they going to leave QS at 1.5%? I get CLI increases automatically from AMEX that are many times the limit on my "no no no CLI for you" QS. I'd login to check for shopping rewards, that's it. I wasn't even looking at their other cards, so disgusted by the QS stagnation. I have Capital One Checking and Savings that I don't use - but just realize I can deposit cash via CVS. Now this BJs acquisition drags me back in.
Anyone have any news or speculation on how Capital One stops QS from becoming the new Platinum? Anyone else plan on ditching QS fully bcse they already have BJs cards?
I closed my QS after getting a use it or lose it letter from Cap1! QS is noting more than a rebuilder CC now, triple pull with bucketed CL...
Some reported possibly upgrading to Savor product but its not available to everyone and if becomes available, would still be worth it to keep?
I was hoping to keep it for future upgrades given it was my oldest CC but having Venture, Walmart and soon BJs it was probably for the best to close it. Not sure how Cap1 would react with that much credit anyway.
As far as BJs card, few years ago when I upgraded to Elite the yearly reward was more even with extra membership fee! And now the CCs are going to be even better.
Persistently denied a QS credit line increase and no option to product change, no I don't even need it for those rewards discounts. I won't close it, but will set it for a $1 or so charge monthly of something, and with auto-pay in place, it is sock-drawered fully. Not long now until I can activate the BJs card.
