Capital One Balance Transfers gone?

As everyone knows who has Cap 1 and Discover, they are megring on July 27th. And new terms are being sent, but has anyone else experienced the zero fee Balance transfers that Cap 1 had, are now gone? And this message is appearing?

No Balance Transfer Offers Available

Unfortunately, you do not have any balance transfer offers available at this time. Balance transfer eligibility is determined by Capital One at our discretion. Eligibility for offers change from time to time, based on a large number of factors.

If this is a new account, available offers may appear once the account is at least 11 days old.

If you are seeing this message but recently received an offer, you became ineligible after the offer was sent. We are unable to provide any additional information, although please feel free to check again in the future as your status may change.

I just used a BT for Cap 1 in June and paid it fully off....I dont consider the merger great as I only received 1 BT offer at 0% APR and that was it, they never offered me another in the 7 years I have had the card

Re: Capital One Balance Transfers gone?

Just got off the phone with a rep who stated the BT offers are limited lol I opened this account back in 2015 and this BT offer has been there ever since. I assume this has to do with Discover merger and Cap 1 tightening down on assets

I've never seen a zero fee BT offer from Capital One. Years ago the transfer fee was 2% and it's gradually gone up from there. Both my QS and Savor are currently offering me a 12 mo BT at 0% interest  with a 4% transfer fee. These offers are pretty much always available on my accounts since they just keep extending the date to respond to the offer.

Re: Capital One Balance Transfers gone?

@delaney1 @AzCreditGuy I regularly have 0% BT offers on a Savor card (had one last time I checked a week ago), and occasionaly on VX, but none have been no fee.  My QS never gets BT offers, but I wonder if having started as a QS1 is part of the reason.

I've never had a 0% BT offer on either my Savor or Quicksilver. I did just take advantage of one on my Discover Cash Back a month and a half ago.

Re: Capital One Balance Transfers gone?

Add my name to the list. Received BT offers from Discover regularily. Rates ranged 2% Fee to 5% Fee with most at 3%. Two months ago my BTs were gone and I got the same message you did.

Zeroed my Discover Rewards and quit using the Discover Card last month. Suspect a transition and Apr increase. Ready to close the account as it really does not fit my spend pattern.

Going on when Capital One bought several banks back around 2008 (include several cards I had) they increased the 7.9% fixed rates to 23.9% variable. Contacted them as I had stellar performance and they told me to buzz off. I closed six Cap1 personal accounts and two business accounts. Never looked back.

There are so many good financials in the market today, I do not need to be nit picked over usage, credit limits and aprs, not to mention triple pulls for credit.

All that said, Capital One offers some good products today compared to 2008.

Re: Capital One Balance Transfers gone?

Let me explain as it seems I may have had a product that some dont have with Cap 1....

1st of all discovery offered me a 0% APR 2 years ago so I was wrong, but since paying that off zero BT offers for me with them. I do keep the balance at zero most of the time and do use the card, but nowhere near extreme. So they might holding back due to me using the card I should be giving them cash back the 19% apr lol

Now my Cap 1 card has had a 0% BT fee since 2015, the catch is its a 27% apr BT if I keep the balance monthly, unless I pay it off in 25 days.

I always pay the card off, when I do. I think maybe I was never supposed to have this feature or they decided, what are we doing giving mobey away for free, when we can charge a 5% BT fee.....

Re: Capital One Balance Transfers gone?

How is that considered a BT? I mean I guess technically you're transferring a balance, but not in the sense of most every other BT with a lower apr.

NFCU Flagship (Daily Driver) | USAA Rewards (1999 Hooptie)

AmEx BCP (Groceries) | Aven Rewards (Groceries) | Chase Prime (Amazon) | Citi Custom Cash (Dining) | Elan MCP (Utilities)

cap1 BTs have been highly targeted and not the normal for most customers I'd have to imagine

Re: Capital One Balance Transfers gone?

Wondering ... today I found Discover offered me BTs again.

There are two forms. One where you pay a fee of 5% and 0% interest for 10 months or a cash advance that is 27.49% put into a bank account that is not available on the account.

As mentioned, if you have purchases you end up paying interest on your purchases after the interest free grace period. The BT is broken out separate on the statement.

Used to use Discover BTs a couple times a year for large purchases and home improvements. Worked well. My current Apr is 14.49% after the BT 0% expires. Problem I have is how Capital One will handle once they migrate my account. Dealt with Cap1 in the past and I have a different view on banking than they do. In short, I would close the account. Not sure what to do? Also, do not need a BT.
