Capital One CLI

I was denied a CLI on my Cap1 card due to "minimum payment too low." I only had a $200 balance so my min payment was listed as $25/mth. I paid the card off last week but even with a zero balance I'm still getting the same denial reason. How can my minimum payment be too low if I paid in full? I'm in the middle of the mortgage process so I can't use my card til after closing but I'm trying to get the CLI now so that I can use the card for some purchases right after closing. Any advice?

Re: Capital One CLI

The minimum over the prior 6 months. It's also a generic "we don't want to" reason from CapOne. CO doesn't mind if you carry a balance. But if you pay it off over time by paying just the minimum, they don't like that.

Capital One Savor: $6,000; Mission Lane: $4,500; PenFed Power Cash Rewards: $3,500; Nordstrom Visa: $3,300; Capital One: $2,550

Store/Other: Care Credit $7,500; Kohls $2,500; Home Depot: $1,500; Amazon: $1,000; Target: $1,100; LOFT: $700

Re: Capital One CLI

This was my issue as well, so for a couple of months, charged up to like $400 and paid it off in larger chunks per payment.  They dont want to see $25 payments, or even $100 payments.  Or so it seems.  I paid in amounts of $150 or more.

Re: Capital One CLI

Try again after the next statement cuts. I just had the same reason last month. Used the card once that month during the whole previous 4 months, paid in full, then requested after that statement cut and got the same nonsense.  Tried again the month after that, boom, CLI.  Didn't use the card or anything.

Same here, I stopped using the cards I have from C1 and even put my auto pays on my newer cards. I tried for a CLI on my second QS and it gave it to me . On my first card, the QS1, they wouldnt take off the AF or give me luv. I will try on the older card ina couple weeks. The CSR informed me once they give you a credit step increase,  I have to use the luv button or get one by auto drive by from them.

Re: Capital One CLI

Only use your bank ATM to withdraw cash from ATM. CHARGE EVERYTHING ON CAP ONE, I MEAN EVERYTHING. Make lots of payments like monthly totaling like at least double minimum. I usually make like 20 payments to cap ONE a month ranging from 89 cents to 425 dollars a month. MAKE LOTS OF PAYMENTS AND HEAVY USE. THEY WILL RAISE YOUR LIMIT IN A FEW WEEKS OR MAYBE 2 MONTHS IF IT GOT DENIED YESTERDAY.

Don't leave a balance if you can afford to pay it off. It takes away your grace period and doesn't look better to Capital One. It looks way better to pay your balance in full.
