If I had a collection from Capital One when I was 18 (I am 28 now) can I still be approved for one of their secured cards? It was charged off and never paid but doesn't show on my reports because it's been over 7 years. Should I avoid applying? They have denied me before but didn't specify that reason.
I have read many post of people being approved by them one week out of BK,
with Cap 1 being listed in the BK, have you tried their pre qualify option?
best of luck to you!
Yeah, what he said.
It is entirely possible to get in with Capital One even tho you have included them in BK before.
I never said I filed for BK. I just said it was 10 years ago, therefore it's no longer on my report.
My question is does capital one consider delinquent accounts with them in the past?? Meaning, if I failed to pay on a card with them 10 years ago, would they be willing to give me one now?

Yes.. I had two charge off's with them, One paid, other sold off and was able to get a new credit card.. And if someone included them in BK then they failed to pay on the card..lol
Yes. I got approved for the secured card (the full $200 deposit) and then a few weeks later tried my luck with the QS 1 - Approved as well, didn't accept the secured offer. My apps were days after I paid a CO that was 3 years old. I say give it a try, good luck

I did not mean to imply that you filed BK, just stated that other people that had filed a BK, as well
as other negative actions, have been approved, just used as an example, sorry.

I had a settled and an unpaid CO with Cap One. I currently have two Cap One cards. However, once was a former HSBC card and the other I had to recon (denied with a 682 FICO due to BK from 05...seemed odd).
I have heard many success stories about Cap1 not blacklisting and allowing people back after getting burned. I think out of all the lenders, they would be the easiest to get back with. It may take a recon, but I don't see why they would not accept you back.
Ten years? I think that is long out of their memories. You can default on them more than once and still be approved. In fact, depending on your credit situation now you might even qualify for unsecured card.
