Capital One Goodwill

I have one 30 day late on my capital one card (dating back to may 07), I paid in full once I got a call about it (stupid me just forgot). I would like to start looking for a house soon, and this put a big dent into my previously mid 700 scores. I'm young without a long credit history, so I need it to be as good as possible, and it is amazing how this one mark alone knocked me down! I grabbed a good will letter off this site and prepared it, I'm wondering what address to send it to? Their "General Correspondence" address? (Capital One, Attn: General Correspondence, PO Box 30285, Salt Lake City, UT 84130-0289) Or is there something else? I know some have suggested to call, but I'm definitely not a good "fighter" on the phone, so I'll be honest that it seems intimidating. If there is any advice on the letter/address to capital one, or anyone who has had success, it would be greatly appreciated! Thanks to everyone in advance for helping me out!

Re: Capital One Goodwill

I received a 30 day late because Capital One found that they didn't receive my min. Payment for the Month of Feb. 2007. When I got the phone call in March that they had not received my payment, it was due to a wrong apartment number on my address (never received the statement). I wrote a goodwill letter to see if they could adjust the late because it was an honest mistake. I got the response today in the mail and they wrote back too bad, so sad the late stays because it was accurate. Well...I called and spoke to an account manager and they agreed it was an honest mistake and made the adjustment to fix the late 30 day. All I did was state my case, wrote a letter and to help a brotha out! IT WORKED!!! The late is coming off!!

Re: Capital One Goodwill

I just got off the phone with capital one. In october 2011 i missed a payment. Was a death in the family and i overlooked my obligation.

Capital One took off the 35$ late fee and told me once records were refreshed the 30 day late would be deleted. So happy! Ty Cap One!!!

+1

I had a single 30 day late (by one day after 30) and I called and spoke to a supervisor. A month later when I pulled my CR, it was gone.

When I ended the coversation wit hthe supervisor, he did say that he would escalate it to higher management; guess it worked)
