@Anonymous wrote:How long have you had your cards FamilyManDan. Reason I ask is because I've had my platinum card since Feb and tried to PC to QS1 but they wouldn't do it at that time because account was too new. (April 24th) . Figured I'd try again at six months.
Hey Alottacards,
This is a little embarrasing but I've had my cards for 6 and 7 years! I'm guessing I should have requested for a CLI earlier lol. But better things on the horrizon. I hope your is able to convert soon!
Now I'm going to be paying ALL of my bills on these 2 cards
I wouldn't be embarassed at all. Heck If I knew half what I know now 5 or 6 years ago, I wouldn't be rebuilding. LOL. I never even knew we had an option to actually ask for a credit limit increase before this year. I thought you got whatever the card companies freely gave you.
FamilyManDan, you've had those cards for that long with those low limits
I don't know your credit profile, but I HIGHLY recommend you go check Capital One's pre-qualifier and see if the Venture or Quicksilver come up for you. Those 2 cards start with much higher limits and will grow with you.
To get to their pre-qualifier, go to their website, click on "Credit Cards" and at the bottom of that page it'll say "See if you're pre-qualified for a credit card offer with no risk to your credit score" then click on the button that says "Find out in 60 seconds". Checking this will NOT affect your credit score.

JustMe3,
I do have 2 Quicksilver cards. I just processed the pre-qualifier and they came back with regular platinum card with 0% APR until 2016 for balance transfers which might be nice. But no ventue.
Hmm... it's a shame no Venture came up. I don't have any experience with their Platinum cards, so not sure about starting limits or if they grow. Hopefully someone who knows will chime in. If you have 2 Quicksilvers, I would just work on getting CLIs on them for now and wait til the Venture comes up for you. But it's up to you. If I'm not mistaken, you can only have 5 Capital One cards (not including co-branded ones) so take that into consideration when thinking about what cards you really want. You could always close out the cards that won't grow later down the line if something you really wants comes up.
Wonderful advice! Thank you very much! I will work on getting CLI's on the 2 capital one cards. I need to find a replacement card for my Credit One Card
lol. Someone was telling me about Barclay's card.

I believe when I went to their prequalifier it came up with "we couldn't find a card for you but here's an offer you may look into" or something along those lines and it was for the Platinum. I applied for the VentureOne anyway and got approved. I think at some point I opted out of prequalified offers though, so it makes sense they couldn't find anything for me.

Barclay could be a good option for you. I know they're new account and inquiry sensitive, but if all of your accounts and inquiries are older you stand a good chance at approval. It's a shame they don't offer a pre-qualifier. If your credit profile is fair to average, I think their NFL card and Rewards card are the easier ones to get. The Sallie Mae, Ring, and Arrival cards are for good to excellent credit I believe.
And there is always Discover and Amex.
