Im an outlier here, i just think you could still cold app Disco. Not everyone needs a prequal. Was a recent poster with very low limit cc's and they applied and got a $9500 sl from Disco. I think you could test the water with a hp but i also wouldnt blame the patience game either.i cant wait til the day he gets approved

haha! i cant wait either! sorry too much anxiety on my part for the cold app! im living vicariously through him with his 735 fico score and im not screwing it up! 😂

I guess they got tired of us using the PC link? LOL I’d hold out for Discover. They have more options for rewards like their quarterly selection, Discover Deals, etc. and everything else is 1%, too.

To me, the card doesn't look much different than the Platinum that your guy just PC'ed from. I'd bet that it's the same thing with "preferred" attached to the name. I'd hold out for either another Quicksilver or a Discover.

What HeavenOhio said. Dont you just love it when companies use fancy words like Preferred or Elite lol, they know itll make your card sound like its the best out there even if it not even close

haha yes it does look the same.. it was totally the "preferred" that got me!

If he makes average or higher income, I would think about a cold apply for QuickSilver.

He was preapproved for a card.  

I have been approved for several cap one cards WITHOUT prequal.

735 and Cap One history.

If he gets the QuickSilver, I would apply for Discover too.

he actually already has a QS.. he got the $300 plat mc and 3 months in he was able to upgrade to QS which is now at $500.. but which will of course never graduate from the bucket he's in(at the time he was only 3 months into his credit journey)

it just makes me nervous especially since he did get a preapproval with the 3% spread for discover in the mail last week but online he's still only preapproved for the secured card.. before i joined here i probably would have went ahead and did it but now im crazy nervous about screwing his score up.. LOL
