Capital One® Platinum Prestige

I'm doing some comps so I hope people don't mind my shot gun posts.  Does anyone have the Capital One® Platinum Prestige Card?  It has a very low 7.4% APR that applies to Transfers as well as Purchases, plus it has no transfer charge and no annual fee.  Sounds like a great card to keep around for those just in case situations.  The website says it's for people with excellent credit only.

Excellent Credit

If you have excellent credit, all these statements are true for you:

  • I have had a loan or credit card for at least 5 years
  • I have a credit card with a credit limit greater than $10,000
  • I have NEVER been more than 60 days late on a credit card, medical bill or loan payment
  • I have never declared bankruptcy
They only potential fail I have is that the two cards I have that have limits greater then $10,000 are AU's.  Any guesses if this will matter or not?

Re: Capital One® Platinum Prestige

I've never worried about my credit reports or FICO scores in the past.  Now that I know a little something about them I get gun shy!  I only have one inquiry on one CR in the last year, but I don't want to "waste" my next one.  God I'm **bleep**. Smiley Happy  How about... nit picky?

Re: Capital One® Platinum Prestige

I just applied online this morning and was approved with a $5k limit.  Before applying I pulled my Fico score from this site and it was 748.  I currently have $11k in credit card debt which is 17% utilization. With your scores I would think you would qualify if you meet their criteria.

Thanks for the update, and congrats.  I decided not to go with Capital One and got a Chase Freedom and a regualr BoA card.  BoA only stated me out at $3300.   I don't know about Chase yet.  I should get the cards and info in the mail in the next week or so.

WOW - took the triple INQ hit from CAP1 and then turned the card down.

Re: Capital One® Platinum Prestige

Interestingly enough. My credit dropped 2 points 3 weeks after being approved and then 2 weeks later dropped another 5.  About a month later it rose 7 points to its original score prior to opening this line of credit and transfering a balance to it.

I always wanted to quantify how much opening a line of credit or transfering a balance would affect ones credit score. In this case it appears to be 7 points and after a month it recovered.

Interesting.
