couple questions if I may:
1. why is everybody so crazy about how a CC looks like? Isn't it the inside/perks that matter?
2. what do I need embossed numbers/name for? They always rub off after a few months. I hate those cards as nobody can read anything on them after you've used them on a regular basis. We're no longer in the 80s when they used those manual swipe machines - heavy and resembling a brick.
People care because they want their card to look like a REAL card. I remember back in the day having an old Orchard Bank card. Every time I used it I felt like everyone there knew I had crappy credit. What would you think if someone in front of you at the store pulled out a Credit One cc? Is it childish, sure. But I know that if I'm on a first date and I pull out the NEW QS it won't look like I have some offbrand secured CC.
Are they mailing these to current cardholders or just new accounts?

So what you're trying to convey is that the card you pluck onto the table for the waiter is a status symbol saying "I am somebody". And then it says CAPITAL ONE in big fat letters on the front. How's that supposed to work out...

I don't usually care about how a card looks but the quicksilver didn't even look like a real card. It's my everyday card and shouldn't have to ask for a new one every couple of months because the thing is falling apart.
+1. When I received my QuickSilver I thought the cards were fake. They looked exactly like the fake credit cards companies put in mailers and offers.
When i found out that the image cards looked like normal credit cards I ordered one in all black. The card has since been put in the sock drawer but its nice to know they updated the look for chip cards.

1) You're throwing out inquiries (3 for Capital One) for a card and depending on your profile, sacrificing a bit of your AAoC as well. You're also essentially starting a relationship with a lender too. The least they can do is to give you something visually pleasing, especially with a card that has a good rewards program like the Quicksilver. It's like having a significant other. You should be physically attracted to them right? ![]()
2) Fair, but the numbers on the old Quicksilver design are just printed on and rub off just as easily as embossed numbers, if not easier. I think people generally want embossed numbers because they've become the credit/debit card standard so they're just used to them. Plus, compared to numbers printed onto a card like the QS, they just look less like a display card. I mean that just looks like a lack of effort.
@Anonymous wrote:I received the new QS with the EMV chip from a fresh app. I didn't understand why people didn't like it, until I realized I had the new version. I saw someone post the old/current one and I agree, this one is much nicer and I don't feel embarassed whipping it out at all. It's very gunmetal-ish.
Lol same here. I kept thinking everyone was crazy, I really like the design of the card.
