Has anyone else seen this? Like most of us, I started with them when my credit had gaping opportunities which it still has. I opened a secured card with a $500 limit in April 2019. The eventually moved the limit to $600 but it remained secured. That card made it to $900 and has not moved since 2021.
I decided to open a new card and got a whole $300 in May 2020. They granted me an increase to $500 by Sept of that year. It remained there until I was granted an increase to $1000 in Feb of this year.
I paid the balance in full on the 2nd card and put it in my sock drawer. I had Hulu on automatic charge and pay in full each month since. Last month, I decided to use it for about $400 in expenses which i paid off promptly.
Over the last few months, Ive requested several CLI with no luck and explanations such as "recent change, "not enough use" and "recent delinquencies." This afternoon, I got an email saying
"Good news! a credit limit boost could be available".
When I opened the email it said:
Way to go, ! Because of your responsible credit habits, we’d like to increase the credit line on your Capital One card ending in **** from $1,000 to $10,000.
Simply accept your increase by Dec. 25, 2023. Or, if you’re not interested, you can ignore this email and your card’s credit limit will stay at $1,000.
Thanks for being a Capital One customer.
Has any one else seen this from a bank I was considering quitting?
Interesting! Capital One is now being Diabolical. I am intrigued and hopeful they will do that to me one day! Congratulations. I hope you accepted. Do you have any other datapoints. Like an increase in income or score etc?
my income has only increased by about $6k since Oct 2021. My score has increased about 50 points since then. The main focus was getting all my other accounts under 30% but it was mostly by consistently requesting CLI from my Navy Fed accounts
Excellent data points. But such a huge increase.... it's like your credit increase denials were like a clogged drain. And WHOOSH all at once the clog was freed by a tsunami. Again congrats.
This is a no-brainer. Accept this 10 x CLI and relish in it.
Those previous denial reasons aren't always spot on but just tossed out there to close out the request...

Wow! That's absolutley amazing from Cap One! Congrats!!!
The most I've seen in an auto CLI was $3500 when I put $5600 on my Savor MC and PIF'd 2 weeks later. Original CL was $10K.
I held the secured card 1 full year from C1 as my starter card from a long hiatus from credit..I graduated up to the unsecured Quicksilver Card For Good Credit. I'm right at 3 years with it. They started me at $1000 then upped it to $1300 on their own accord 5 months later..
I requested a CLI 3x. They denied the first 2 requests saying I my use was too low then this last time just a few months ago I was denied again for an alleged late payment that I can't find in the record. I use my Quicksilver card as a secondary usually to nab some of the merchant offer's that's on the app.,
I've been micromanaging because I have a couple heavy cards that see a lot of use. By paying my QS off regularly I keep my overall utilization low during the billing period.
My QS was at a negative $133 for a couple weeks. I checked the app and discovered Capitalone more than doubled my credit limit. They hiked my limit a bit more than double on the QS card. I'm actually using my QS since they upped my limit. It seems Capitalone was trying to bribe me back.'
