Capital One - Transferring CL Between Cards

Does anyone know if it is still an option to move open CL between Cap 1 cards?   I moved $3K about 4 months ago from my QS to my Savor (had to leave $500 on the QS) and the option is still there (I want to move $5K from my Venture card to the Savor) then eventually close out to the QS and Savor.   However, when I click on the link it just pops up with a "we hit a snag" message.   I've only tried it for 2 days, but was wondering if anyone else was running into the same problem.

I tried and got the same error message @md_rebuild

ps, not really important but  I am not clear which card(s) you want to close out and which to keep.

Re: Capital One - Transferring CL Between Cards

Sorry, that original post was a bit confusing.

I have $5.6K in CL on my Venture card and $600 on my QS card (after I transferred the majority to my Savor).   I'd like to move $5K from my Venture to my Savor (raising the CL from $6K to $11K) and then either sock drawer or close out the Venture and QS card.

I'm approaching 5 years post BK7 (08/19) and at this point in my rebuild I've got a number of cards with high limits (you can see them in my signature), so I'm just trying to consolidate.   I'm probably not going to close any out until I get back with AMEX this year (fingers crossed) but don't really see the point in having a bunch of cards with CL of $1.5K-$5K, which I never use anyway.   They served their purpose and if I can get the Cap 1 CL consolidated into 1 card, it will make the culling process much easier.

Re: Capital One - Transferring CL Between Cards

Gotcha now.  I have a QS that I don't really use and I have been able to reallocate to my highly used Savor.

There probably is a min amount

that must remain on the donor card.  With the Venture, it might be $5000 leaving you only $600 to be allocated.  Some other cards may be $500.  We don't have enough DP to know definately what these min are yet...

Re: Capital One - Transferring CL Between Cards

I actually called the customer service line to see if it could be done via phone.   Apparently not, which boggles the mind.

But the CS rep did say that the glitch was a known issue that they are working to resolve, so hopefully soon I'll be able to complete this task and provide more data.

Re: Capital One - Transferring CL Between Cards

I wasn't even aware that you were able to reallocate funds with Cap1 or I would have a long time ago. Is this normally done via the app or do you have to go through the online site?

Re: Capital One - Transferring CL Between Cards

@GTSYears ago they allowed combining limits from 2 cards into 1, but I couldn't tell you how long ago it went away (well before i started coming here).  Transferring CL between cards became an option for some in June or July 2023 IIRC.  I transferred $1200 from my QS to S1 in July via the desktop site.  When you click on the "I want to" it'll be listed in the drop down under offers and upgrades.  If you're doing the same we think the min remaining you need to leave on a QS is $500.  For MC's it doesn't apear that it matters whether it's a Plat, WMC or WEMC.  For Visa product less info is known, but wouldn't be surprised to see higher min remaining limits for Visa Sig. and Visa Inf. cards.

Re: Capital One - Transferring CL Between Cards

When I did it last, I did it online.  I don't recall seeing the option in the app.

Re: Capital One - Transferring CL Between Cards

As of this morning, it's working.   I just transferred $5K from my Venture credit limit to my Savor card.

It was the same requirement as last time, had to leave at least $500 on the Venture.

Now to sock drawer the Venture and QS cards.

Re: Capital One - Transferring CL Between Cards

Cool,  $11000 is very nice.  DP wise, looks like Cap One allows the QS and Venture to go down to $500.
