Capital One Venture X

Has anyone been approved for Venture X even though the pre-approval tool only showed you as eligible for Venture One or Venture Rewards?

Re: Capital One Venture X

I know a bit about this card even though I don't have it--

I'm not sure if you knew this but there is actually a separate page to check for VX approval, I believe the standard preapproval  tool might not even show VX as an option
https://www.capitalone.com/credit-cards/preapprove/venture-x/

If those are the only two cards it shows, you may or may not be eligible. I know people are definitely NOT getting the card when they are only pre-approved for the cards that say "for good credit".

Re: Capital One Venture X

My bankruptcy was discharged in February 2024. In March, I received my first Capital One card, which was a $2,000 limit on the Savor Rewards. They increased this limit to $2,200 in June. I then checked the pre-approval tool, and they approved me for the Venture Rewards with a sign-up bonus and $8,000 limit. Just two days after that, I applied for a credit limit increase, and they increased it to $13,000. Now, when I check the tool to says i'm approved for all their cards with sign-up bonuses, even the Pottery Barn and West Elm cards show up as preapproved. However, when I check the Venture X page, it says “denied.”

Re: Capital One Venture X

Your pre-approval request just shows up as denied? Every time I've checked it, it has at least showed the reasons why. That CL and CLI are very positive signs though since the minimum starting  CL is 10k on the VX. It being your potential 3rd C1 card in a year might raise some flags with them however.

Re: Capital One Venture X

No, they listed every possible reason under the sun, haha. But this is based on information from before my bankruptcy was discharged. I’m just confused about how all their cards say I’m preapproved with the signup bonus. However, from what I’ve read, that card has the strictest approval criteria. Also, you’re right about the minimum starting limit being $10k. Unfortunately, I’ll never be able to switch my Venture Rewards card to that card because Capital One doesn’t offer cross-network upgrades from Mastercard to Visa.

Re: Capital One Venture X

You're right about not being able to upgrade, I looked a ton into that with C1 but unfortunately that seems like a dead end. I don't know much about bankruptcy but can you do something to get it completely removed now that it's discharged? I mean to the point where they can't reference it on your consumer credit reports?

Re: Capital One Venture X

I wanted to give you a quick update on my credit card application. I was checking their pre-approval tool regularly, and it went through a few changes. Initially, it was approved for every card with a signup bonus, but then it only approved cards with good credit and no signup bonus. This lasted for a few weeks, but I checked again on Thursday, and guess what? It showed that I was pre-approved for all the cards with a signup bonus, including the Venture X!  I accepted the offer. They approved the card with the lowest limit of 10,000, which is cool. I thought I’d give you this update since we had a bit of a back-and-forth last month about this.

Congratulations!

it sounds like persistence works with copone. I should have tried longer. I wanted the savor and the $250 sub. They only offered it without the sub, b@st@tds! Too many recent accounts. I don't think 5 in 12 months is too many! Anyway, I just pced my quicksilver from my sock drawer instead.

I just got denied a business venture X yesterday.  I checked my pre approval and i was accepted for the the top tier personal cards including venture X.  So I apllied for it on the Business side and got denied. the only thing i can think of is a new Truck loan over 3 months ago. I was letting everyone know..  they pulled all 3 credit bureas.

LOL, just kidding... I definitely have no room to judge - I've done five cards in a two-week period before... more than once.  Smiley Surprised Smiley Embarassed

However, we owe it to ourselves to admit that we're not quite average around here.  It's not exactly outrageous for a lender to tell us we need to slow our roll a bit to get their card(s) when we're at five new accounts in a year (or in my case, even less). Smiley Wink
