Good morning! I was unable to find any recent posts about this, and the older posts were inconsistent.
I have had a secured SDFCU card for a little over 3 years, and it has not graduated. I contacted them and asked when my account will be reviewed, and the person told me that their secured cards will never graduate (it's not an option). The only way to get a non-secured card is to close the secured one and apply for a new card.
Their card description used to specifically state the card could graduate with responsible use, and parts of their site do still say that (but not on the actual secured card page anymore). I have seen many people who had this card graduate to an unsecured version, so I know it is (or was) possible.
Is there a specific department I need to contact? Do I need to try talking to someone else? Or is this a lost cause and they truly don't graduate the cards anymore?
While I could apply for their non-secure card, I don't want another hard inquiry or another new account on my credit for at least a year (I have recently added a few good cards now that my credit is improved, and am close to closing on a mortgage). The secured card also has over 3 years of positive payment history, so I'd prefer to keep the age and history of that one rather than starting over with a new one.
Any insight into recent graduations and how they were achieved would be much appreciated!
