This is BS. Cap One raised my limit from $300 to $1000 without me asking and I wasn't on credit steps. I decided to apply for another one and they gave me another $300 limit. I don't get it.
I got approved for the cap one rewards card not sure if its a credit step card or not but i called n asked for a CLI and they said they dont do that anymore because of the economy or whatever. I also asked about the "credit step program" n they didnt know what that was, can someone explain?
called Cap1 and applied. didnt get an answer in 60 seconds, so i figure i got denied plus a hard pull!! i'm best off with secure cards and making major deposits as collateral! no more inquiries!!!
So here is an update. I received a SW alert that there was a new inquiry so they pulled equifax for sure.
The credit steps program is automatically give to people who get low limits (like mine), what happens is if you stay under your credit limit and pay your bill on time (or early) after the 3rd bill you will get a 250 increase, then if you keep up the good activity, payment and stay under limit allowed after the 7th bill you get another 250 increase, etc. The Representative said once you miss one payment (even by a day late) or you go over your credit limit you get kicked off the program perminantly and then you have to start begging for increases (well he didnt say begging be he kind of implied it...lol)
I think Pavlov's dogs had less decisions to make than you do!

A. what's b.s.? the OP's description of their problem? or Capital One's response?
B. What type of card was it, since it wasn't credit steps? How long did it take you to get the limit raised to 1000? how long had you had the card? What type of card was the second card?
C. what exactly don't you get?
