Applied+approved for a Venture One card last night w/ $5k starting limit. Currently have a QS1 w/ a $500 CL that I opened when I started my rebuild last year. After monthly attempts in chat/calls to try and product change or get the fee waived with no success im just going to combine the two cards credit limits together and use the Venture One for daily driving, especially since I wont have the monthly AF.
Since my Venture is a brand new card, is Cap one like Amex where you need to wait a certain period or time before you can consolidate?
Once i receive my new card in the mail i would like to consolidate asap, I have a small balance to pay off on my QS1 that can be paid in full.
6 months minimum I believe.
Why Venture One? Probably the worst of their reward cards.
You might be able to PC it in 6 months also.
Cap One can be very generous if you use and pay your cards.
GL!

Your case sounds so similar to mine.. I got approved 5K SL for the Venture card and currently have a QS with a CL of 7K.
After approval I tried combining the limits and failed and was also told by CSR that it ain't going to happen as my QS is a mastercard and the Venture is a Visa.
I was hopeless.. after 3 weeks, I tried combining limits again online and was able to succeed. Didn't speak to anyone, or chat.
I could be out of date here, but I thought you had to have the donor account at a zero balance for 30 days or so before they'd let you consolidate lines?
Thats what Im unsure of as it didnt specify if my VO is a mastercard or visa. Im not sure that would make too much of a difference, but I know in Amex's case if you were to consolidate or transfer/reallocate credit lines your car needs to be at least a year old to do so.
My quicksilver one is already a mastercard

Depending on how long you've had the card - you should be able to combine limits. I would go into Cap1 and go to consolidate accounts (should be in settings). Once there, as long as you have a zero balance, you should be able to merge the QS1 card into the Venture. Just make sure you have used all your CB on it before hand.
Do you have to have a zero balance on BOTH cards, or just 1?

A zero balance is only required on the donor card (i.e. the one that will be closed).

Thanks for the info.
