Capital One "type" on website

another newb question.....looks like I'm pre-approved for the Cap 1 QS and so is DW.

I looked at both our current cards and I have a QS1 and her's just says Platinum.

When I look up the accts online they both read the same and don't show any difference....neither one specifies anything....they both say Platinum.

Any idea where to find out exactly which card you have ???

Re: Capital One "type" on website

Platinum has NO REWARDS.

Quicksilver One and Quicksilver will post on the iphone app and online with REWARDS.

Always go Quicksilver IMO, however be forewarned, the Quicksilver ONE has an Annual Fee, the Platinum does not. I am pro rewards.

edit: i cantt spel gud

It can get confusing since "Quicksilver' cards are also platinum... unless they're Signature (Visa) or World (MasterCard).

I remember the day when having a "gold" card actually meant something.  Then for a short time, "platinum" was the new elite card.  Now even checking account debit cards are referred to as 'platinum' cards!

In a few years, the gift cards sold at the grocery store will be "Signature" cards... Smiley Very Happy

The qs1 has a fee. I would online chat with them and see if you can qualify for the regular QS, no fee same rewards.

+1

I would definitely do this.

But, to make the offerings even more complicated, some folks on here have been successful in getting their QS1 fee permanently waived without the upgrade to a QS - leaving them with a fee-free QS1.  Others, like myself, can't get a fee waiver or a PC to the regular QS.

It seems that they can do pretty much anything they want if you're lucky enough to get the right CSR/department.  About the only combination I've never read about is a Venture MasterCard, but that's probably because there's not much to gain by PC'ing to it (if it's even possible) and one would lose the $400 sign up bonus by doing so.  That being said, I'm sure there's bound to be one out there somewhere... LOL.

UncleB, you're not alone. People with very new credit profile and lower scores than mine are getting approved for QS with larger limits than mine and I can't even get a CLI or PC'd my qs1 to QS. Lol, I've given up. I will just app for the cards.

Yeah, we seem to be in good company!

I actually got my QS Visa Siggy in preparation for closing the QS1 MasterCard rather than pay the AF (kindly 'reduced' to half the last three years, making it $39.50).  When the time came in July they had just started doing the account 'merge', but my new QS was only four months old (two months shy of the required six months).  So, I decided to 'hold my nose' and pay the AF one more time (again, they let me pay half of $79) in order to be able to merge the accounts when eligible.

Well, the accounts were eligible just a few weeks ago, and since I've now paid the AF through next summer, I'm not in a huge hurry.  Luckily, I shouldn't have the problems some folks are having (when I check online, it shows my accounts to be eligible).  My plan is to try to get maybe one more increase on each account separately, then before the AF kicks in do the 'merge'.

Just for kicks, I might try one last time to get the AF permanently waived (or upgraded to QS) since the account is one of my oldest at eight years, but I've got the QS Visa Signature 'on deck' in case once again the CSR tells me "no offers are available".  I've heard that statement over and over the last few years... LOL.

Amen. Merge those suckers. I would assume Cap1 likes my style and PC my Platinum to no AF QS.

I want a mutant QS World MasterCard. Gotta get to $5k.

Chat was my successful method.

Re: Capital One "type" on website

Platinum accts stay platinum accounts even after they upgrade to QS1 or even QS.

They are what they started at.

So are cash advances.  I have a $12,500 card with a $1,500 cash limit and a $10,750 with a $5,000 cash limit.

Rebuild started in 2014  -  $100k unsecured credit in 2017  -  $500k unsecured credit in 2024.
