Capital One situation

For at least one account I don't need my ski mask.
But I do need to know how to get this removed.

Old chargeoff from 2001. Experian will drop this month or next but Equifax claims September.

Sent a letter to Capital One in early December for a detailed history of my account. No response.

Called today...on hold for 15 minutes which did not make me happy. Spoke to someone who did not know what she was doing. I heard her say "Oh my gosh"...She looked for my account and couldn't find it. Gave me a fax number and an address. Well the address was the same one I sent my letter to.

Got her name and Operator ID.

So after this debacle. The only thing I can assume is I've been purged from their system and Equifax and Experian are full of........since I disputed this a few times and they said the magic word "Verified"

Any help would be appreciated on what letter and who to threaten.

I'm assuming some type of MOV or ITS or something.

Thanks,
Ski mask guy

Re: Capital One situation

Every time I get someone on the phone that does not know what they are talking about, I hang up and try again.

When I was dealing with the ATT CA, I heard several different things (that I knew was wrong), but I finally got someone on the phone that knew what she was talking about.

MOV is also a good move. I personally do not have the patience to sit and wait to tackle the mail-lady every single day.

Maybe you should try both; while sending an MOV, try calling until you get an answer.

Re: Capital One situation

I hate being on hold like 20 minutes but I am calling again. Actually have the phone to my ear right now.

If this one also says no record then it's time to hit up Equifax for deletion though it still leaves me with 3 more.

But just one should boost this score over 700 on Equifax and I guess Experian if I can't wait the month for it to drop Smiley Happy

Re: Capital One situation

Ironically after 20 minutes on hold they hung up on me.
Didn't get a chance to get her ID so I could report her to her supervisor.

She did say they have no access to accounts that are closed.

Never thought CapOne would be a company who stores info in Alabama or whatever but it seems like they are.

Yep, I am female. I am so anti-people without knowledge of my situation. Its nerve racking.

I hang up even when I'm not on my cell phone.

Re: Capital One situation

I still remember the time, umpty-ump years ago, when I was at Sears catalog pickup, calling a different Sears, and no lie, I listened to it ring for 27 minutes. When someone actually picked up, I was so enraged that I couldn't get a sound out. On the other end, I heard a voice say, "See? I told you no one was there!" And they hung up.

It's a wonder that they didn't have to call store security on me...

Re: Capital One situation

I disputed CapOne last month and it came back in a week.

Came back and says it was updated. Not one change from the last report. But a different address from the one I was told to mail.

Not even sure what to do now.

Re: Capital One situation

Eddie, did you call their back door number? Or just the one on the back of your cc, or statement?

If it was a charge off, I'd suggest calling the debt recovery dept: 800-258-9319.

Or talk to an acct. specialist at: 800-889-9939.

I've found the acct. specialists are very knowledgeable, helpful and friendly.

Good luck to you. Smiley Happy

Back door to find the account?
Don't have the card it's like 8 or 9 years old...

I'll try those numbers and see what I come up with.
