Sorry this post is so long but gotta get it out there the experience I had with a Capital One CSR.
So last night I called to see about getting my APR lowered on my Capital One Platinum MC. While on the phone I was disconnected so I had to call back. When I got another CSR rep I informed her that I was calling from Afghanistan and gave her my Skype number to call back incase we got disconnected. Once she looked at my card she informed me that the best she could lower my APR was to 12.99% but only for 6 months. To my surprise she put me on a brief hold and said that she wanted to talk to someone else about something but she would be right back with me. After waiting for two or three minutes she returned and began to ask me questions about my military service. She then informed me that because I am active duty that I will qualify for 4% APR because of the SCRA. I then asked her about that only applying to debt incured before joining the service. She said that was correct based on the regulation itself. But based on Cpatial One's policy they offer it to anyone who is in the service period. I was truly surprised that she even informed me of this seeing as how I didn't ask her about it. She then proceed to inform me of some even better news. She asked how long I had had my account and told me that I would receive a credit for any interest that I have paid on any balances that was above the 4% APR. That is what shocked me the most. I proceed to repeat all the info that she had told me to make sure that I had not heard anything wrong and that my understanding was spot on as to what she was telling me. In which she confirmed everything that she had told me. She said that it will take up to two or three billing cycles for the credit to show up. Even though it will not be much I usually always try and PIF any balances that I have but I have carried one for a few months here and there. If my calculations are correct it will be a few extra dollars that I didn't have before I made that call. So as of right now only time will tell if she was correct or not in our conversation. I will be keeping my fingers crossed and checking my online account more often to see if it shows up or not.
In closing it goes to show that there are still some very good CSRs out there in the world. I made sure and got her full name and will be writing a letter to Capital One and commending her on the service that she provided me with. I already spoke with a supervisor before we got off the phone but I want to ensure that I can get to the highest person possible to let them know how great of a job she is doing.
Our military should always be taken care of by civilians and the financial industry. Thats wonderful!
Thank You for your service. Most if not all credit card companies do the same for our service men and women. The service rep definitely went the extra mile telling you.
Congratulations!
Yes she definitely did. I gotta thank the forum members for all the knowledge I have gained from all of their experiences they have posted on here. I would have never even thought about calling in the first place if it wasn't for the things I have read on here. Only wish I had found this site years ago.
Thank you to everyone.
Great! Congrats!

Thank you for your service in the military.. Congratulations for your APR reduction! Are there any benefits for military veterans from Cap One or from any other CC company?

This is interesting. Do we know if this applied to reservists as well that are currently showing active duty?

Nixon you should start a thread of a new message concerning if there are benefits for active, veteran, or reservist
